They arrived an hour after that. They charged $125 to move a sofa down one flight of stairs. Then they offered to take it away for another $75. They scraped the side of the wall on the staircase. The gouge is about the depth and length of a pencil: about half an inch deep and 8 inches long in the drywall. I?ll need to use spackle to fix it. To repaint it without any noticeable mark, I?ll need to hire a painter to paint the entire stairwell. That will cost a lot more money than I would saved by not hiring a professional mover."
