They killed and removed all the vegetation, tilled the soil, brought in new topsoil, conditioned/fertilized, and then laid sod. "I have extensive damage to my lawn due to moles, so I needed to have the whole lawn reseeded. I decided to have the lawn aerated with their two direction aerator and then seeded. They said your lawn would be thick come spring time and would have very few if any weeds. They were right, grass even grew in shaded areas that would never take shade seed. They left you with a small bag of sun seed and small bag of shade seed to touch up any areas that need some attention. Very happy with the results. I used a little of the shade seed in the spring and that was all."

Also, just because you install a sprinkler system, don't expect a lot of grass growth if you have a lot of shade trees in your yard. Better to install shade tolerant ground cover."
