"Conrad Homes provided a stress free home remodeling experience. the staff was polite, communication was very good. The work product very good, That kind of experience is very hard to find. I recommend them for any construction project, you will pay a little more than others but the peace of mind is worth it."
"VKB Frederick remodeled our basement and turned an area that was mostly being used for storage into a space our family can actually enjoy. We wanted it to feel comfortable and finished, but also practical enough for everyday use. This was our first renovation of this size, so we had plenty of questions throughout the process. The team was responsive and explained things in a way that made it easier for us to make decisions. We also appreciated the crews attention to the finishing details because those little things really make a difference once the project is complete. The basement no longer feels like a basement. It feels like another level of our home, and we are using the space far more than we expected. We?re very pleased with the transformation and would recommend the VKB Frederick team."
"Great guy, casual approach, does not ask enough questions. As a homeowner, I don't have his knowledge and is up to him to educate a little better. Overall, very, very good."
"EXCELLENT COMPANY! We had been planning to replace our sidings for over 10 years and we received several estimates for the specific work we wanted to have done. In May 2024, we contacted “AMERICAN HOME CONTRACTORS” (John) their project coordinator came out and assessed our home and we explained to him everything we would like to get done and to address our concerns. He made great suggestions on how to complete the job to our satisfaction; we accepted the offer. John returned to our home as we had questions about ensuring we were satisfied with our style and color(s). He stayed in touch with us throughout the project, ensuring we were satisfied and the project was going as planned. The Team was EXCELLENT! They were very professional, knowledgeable, hardworking, prompt, and friendly and displayed great customer service, ensuring we were pleased with the project's progress. The job was completed successfully on time and all problems were resolved as agreed! WE ARE SO VERY PLEASED!"
"This was a great experience all around. We looked at Talon and another construction company. The other company had a hard time "getting it", i.e., what we were looking for, but when we dealt with Talon's designer and partner, they did. We did get both bids as close as possible in terms of what was being offered. Talon's pricing was competitive. The project was contracted for in August 2013, and completed April 2014. There was some initial delay waiting for utility companies to move the meters -- some of this was facilitated by Talon and some I had to work directly with the utility company. This was the most frustrating part of the experience, but I think most of the delays were from the utilities themselves. Washington Gas was particularly hard to work with. Demo of our portico was finally initiated (start of construction) in November. The construction crew worked through some tough weather as the winter of 2013-2014 was pretty fierce. Loss of time due to weather was minimal, though, as unless there was a huge snowfall, they were out there. The carpenters who were here on a daily basis were competent and friendly. We couldn't be happier with the final product, and often neighbors come by or stop us on the street to compliment us on it. "
"America Construction was very responsive, they were quick, and they worked with our schedule to accommodate our needs. My husband and I have used this company for our basement floor remodel as well as small repair jobs around the house. Great company, highly recommend!"
"After calling around to a few different places I chose Euro Design Remodel for my bath and kitchen project. From the very beginning every interaction with them was pleasant.I called to schedule a measurement to get a quote, to designing, to putting the plan in motion, they were helpful every step of the way. Our designer was amazing and understood exactly what we wanted. Our project workers got things done quickly and never left things messy. They helped us transform our outdated bathroom and kitchen into a masterpiece. Overall it was just a great experience.
"Job went pretty much as planned. Jamie was able to overcome some minor imperfections in our walls, and the crown molding looks great. He had great suggestions on areas that we were unsure of. He plugged up the nail holes and caulked top and bottom of the molding. The end result is great. I will definitely call Dunn the Snyder Way for any future projects or renovations. "
Custom Home Builders questions, answered by experts

Modular homes can go up or down in value depending on a few factors. In areas where real estate is appreciating, the value of modular homes is likely to increase, and vice versa. Additionally, the value of modular homes depends partially on the area. In cities where every other home is stick-built, modular homes might be considered a functional obsolescence, in which case they could be less desirable and go down in value. In either case, though, modular homes can still be a good investment, especially since they provide housing at a lower upfront cost.
Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.
Ranch and colonial-style homes are often the most affordable to build. They have a common layout with available designs that are easy to adjust in simple ways without having to spend too much on a structural engineer or architect. Both types of homes' symmetry, simple roofs, and often one or two-story plans mean they often fall in the $150 to $200 square-foot range, putting them right around average.
Building a house without blueprints is not advised. It will prevent you from obtaining necessary building permits and meeting building codes and is likely to result in shoddy construction and unsafe living conditions. Detailed blueprints ensure that a house is built to exact specifications and is constructed safely and structurally stable.
