"I couldn't be more pleased with the deck repair that Jose and Melvin of JW Home Improvement performed for us. The attention to detail, beautiful joints, use of screws instead of nails, and the particular attention appearance and completeness. The site was left spotless. A special thanks for your dedication to working in such cold weather. Thanks."

"We hired VSP to do two bathroom remodels for us, and ended up adding a third bathroom into the mix, since we were so happy with the work on the first two. Viktor and his wife Daniella showed up early every day, and were very helpful in explaining the work, and any issues that came up. They removed a massive (massively ugly) cast iron bathtub to make room for a much more modern shower pan and glass surround. We had the floors, walls, and fixtures all changed out in two bathrooms, and just the floor in the third bathroom. The work was completed on schedule. Viktor will lay out his plan so that you can plan your schedule accordingly. Every day had a focus and objective. Viktor pointed our when supplies were low (our contract specified that we'd choose and provide the tile, tub, all the aesthetic pieces, etc), enabling me to quickly run out to Floor and Decor, or Lowes, or Home Depot for trim pieces, pocket shelves, that I hadn't thought of before starting the job. The bathrooms came out better than we hoped for, and really have become the highpoint of our house. Daniella has an eye for design, and will not let you make a mistake. Viktor is a true craftsman, and jokingly "gave free lessons" on home maintenance through out our two weeks together (since I was doing other construction projects at the same time, and periodically had to ask him questions). Victor will also tell you everything you never knew about Bulgaria, and I genuinely enjoyed talking with him. My wife and I, and kids, highly recommend VSP services for any home upgrades you may have. I would definitely hire them again, and recommend them to anyone else looking for some home repair/upgrades."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

The cost to repair a swimming pool varies widely, with an average cost around $700. The total expense can range from as little as $10 for simple DIY fixes to over $20,000 for extensive overhauls. Key factors influencing the cost include the type of pool (in-ground vs. above-ground), its size, and the specific repairs needed. For above-ground pools, repairs typically cost between $100 and $700. For in-ground pools, costs are higher, generally ranging from $350 to $2,700. Common repairs include patching liners, fixing plumbing or electrical lines, and repairing equipment like pumps and filters. More complex issues, such as fixing a cracked beam, can cost $6,000 or more, while major projects like resurfacing a concrete pool can cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

The type of sand you need for your sand filter depends on the manufacturer’s instructions, but you’ll need to use sand specifically for pool filters. Silica sand is a wallet-friendly, common choice that’s relatively easy to replace. You’ll choose between various grades of sand and different-sized sand grains.

It can take anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to fill the average pool with water—and that’s if you use a couple of garden hoses. A water delivery service can fill your pool in one to three hours. Some services even pre-treat the water so it’s swim-ready as soon as it’s filled.

Don’t worry if your pool is still cloudy right after shocking it. Some shocking products will leave your pool cloudy for a day or so after using them. However, if your pool is still cloudy several days after shocking it, it could be due to poor filtration, low chlorine, or one of the other problems outlined above. If you’ve tried our fixes but still can’t clear the cloudiness, call a pool repair professional.

An easy way to know whether your sand filter has enough sand is to check how full the filter is and what the sand looks and feels like. The filter container should be two-thirds to three-quarters full of sand. Look for interior marks indicating the ideal sand level. If you put your hand into the sand, it should flow through your fingers without clumping. The filter pressure gauge is also an easy indicator—the right amount of sand leads to normal pressure, while too much or too little sand can cause high or low pressure.
