"The project went great. Max and his guys do a great job. I had pretty much lost confidence in home improvement contractors until I met Max and Fox Creek Builders. He does what he says and his installers do what they say and do it with quality. Fox Creek has redone the entire outside of my house. He did windows and the siding last year and then they just did my roof and like before I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work."

"Steve arrived on time from Pennsylvania, even though the weather was very foggy that day. He analyzed the work to be done and I said the closest store for parts was Home Depot. I explained that Lowes installed the door in 2004. I took a picture and went to them first for repairs but they said they don't repair doors. However, they recommended Angie's List for a handy man and to use treated wood or PVC material for door framing. Steve returned with a door frame kit. He said the material was wood but seemed unsure if it was treated. He repaired the frame which took 4 and 1/4 hours and he allowed me to use a $25 coupon. The caulk had to dry before we could close the door. When dry, I tried to close and lock it with a key using my body weight to push hard but it would not close. I opened the main garage door and was able to pull hard and lock it from the inside. I called and he came back the next day. I was unsure if I was being charged $124 per hour for him to fix it correctly and I was honestly afraid to ask. He didn't say but either way I knew it had to be done. After two hours I told him I had to get back to work. I asked how long would he be? He told me he wanted to make sure it was done right and to my satisfaction. I told him to call me if he needed me and left him to finish. He already had my credit card info if needed and I asked my tenant to try the key in the lock when he was done. I came back on my lunchbreak a couple hours later. The frame was fixed, he cleaned up the area and he was gone. My tenant said the key worked great and there was no other charge."

"I've used this company before, and they never let me down. I had a break-in at one of my rental units a few days ago. They broke the glass on the front door. BCG came the next morning and replaced the door, changed the locks, and had it ready to go before the end of day. They also had some excellent advice for securing my other windows. They do great work. I can recommend BCG without reservations."

"Whiting Co did very good work on a complicated siding demolition and installation project plus a window replacement. The Whiting crew showed excellent workmanship and were efficient and good communicators. I would use them again."

"James was so professional and kind. He evaluated what needed to be done to update mg bathroom area. Gave me an estimate based on what I needed done. Very very reasonable estimate. Hard working and didn’t mind when I added a few other things I needed done. Even when we realized how messed up some of my wiring was he persisted until he solved all of it! I would recommend him to anyone who wants a fair quote and great work ethic."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

In Baltimore, repairing a single window screen generally takes 30 to 45 minutes, while full screen replacement for a window may require up to two hours. Re-screening an entire rowhouse or patio enclosure typically takes one to three days, depending on the number of openings. Seasonal demand, especially in spring and summer, can impact scheduling with local screen repair contractors.

Helpful?

In Baltimore, screens benefit from deep cleaning each spring and fall to remove pollen, dust, and salt residue from the Chesapeake Bay breeze. Inspect screens monthly during summer for tears or loose frames, especially after storms. Before winter, store removable screens to prevent damage from freezing temperatures. Regular screen maintenance helps prevent corrosion and extends the lifespan of both window and patio screens.

Helpful?

Baltimore residents can hire window and door companies for custom screen replacement, mobile screen repair services for on-site fixes, or handypersons for general screen maintenance. Hardware stores may offer basic repairs and DIY materials. For historic rowhouses, seek contractors experienced with older wood frames, and for neighborhoods near the harbor, choose specialists familiar with salt-air screen challenges. Always verify local experience and references.

Helpful?

In Baltimore, homeowners often select screen materials that aren’t suited for the city’s humid climate or coastal air, leading to faster wear. Attempting screen replacement during rainy spring months can cause poor adhesion. Skipping regular inspections after summer storms or not securing screens on upper-story rowhouses can result in unnecessary repairs. Choosing improper mesh size may also let in pollen or small insects common in the region.

Helpful?

Completing screen repair in Baltimore offers immediate relief from mosquitoes and other pests, especially during humid summers. Over time, maintaining window and porch screens helps prevent moisture intrusion common in rowhouses, reduces pollen and dust from entering your home, and preserves curb appeal—crucial in Baltimore’s historic neighborhoods. Regular screen maintenance also helps protect wood frames from Chesapeake Bay’s salty air, preventing premature deterioration.
