"From the first meeting to obtain a quote until the team left, every step of the process was professional. Paul came out personally to show us a sample window and provide us a quote on windows and make recommendations to replace our patio and storm door. Paul patiently answered all of questions & communicated with us up thru the installation. The team of installers were quick and professional, replacing 11 windows, a custom patio door, and storm door within a day. They cleaned up every piece of packaging, metal, etc and demonstrated how to use the new windows. I would recommend Innovative Home Improvements without reservation."

"The customer service before the installation was outstanding - very attentive to detail, product knowledge was exceptional, and no high pressure sales.  Max went out of his way to bring full size samples of the siding to ensure that we were pleased with the quality and colors.  We felt like we were provide the best price initially - no back and forth negotiations were needed.  During and after the installation, the customer service and responsiveness remained outstanding.  The crew were professional, pleasant and did an excellent job. The few corrections that were needed were handled immediately and professionally.   We are complete satisfied with our purchase and would definitely do business with Fox Creek again and recommend them to others.

"I was very happy with response from Eddis. He gave me a quote upfront and followed it up with an invoice via email. I paid him half at the beginning and another half when he came back to install the window. He was very professional and respectful of my house. I will definitely use A.R. Glass again if I have window repair needs."

"We were extremely pleased with the 20 new windows we just had installed by Pawel at Unicorp. The installation was very professional, they cleaned up each day and were very easy to have at the house. Brian Weil, the owner went above & beyond explaining the different types of windows, ultimately we wanted the look of the 1964 windows we were replacing with grilles on the inside & outside but just more efficient. We are very pleased with the end product. Both Brian and Pawel were very patient with me and the questions I had. I highly recommend calling Unicorp should you need new windows."

"I reached out to Paul to get a quote for new basement windows/door for my house. His company's estimate was stress free and used a local window manufacturer with an amazing reputation. Paul explained the different types of windows, the insulation and noise blocking qualities of each and provided guidance when I needed it. Once my selection of the windows was completed, I was provided an installation timeframe and signed the contract. The contract was clear and simple and I appreciated the explanations provided in it. When the windows arrived, Paul scheduled a day for the installers to come and replace the windows. They were careful to make sure it was on a day when it was not raining to keep the rain out of the house. As with all window and door installations, the installation quality matters as much as the windows. Pauls team of installers is a team he has been using for many years and they are absolutely excellent at what they do. The insulation and caulking as well as the functionality of the windows is perfect and I cannot recommend anyone more than Paul and his team at Innovative Home Improvements."

"If you need a door repaired, hire Dexter. He was absolutely professional from start to finish, incredibly humble, and his pricing was more than fair. He diagnosed the issue quickly and fixed it right the first time without trying to upsell me on anything unnecessary. Honest, high-quality work is hard to come by—I will definitely be calling him again if I need anything else."

"Harry quickly got back to us to schedule a time to come out to give an estimate. We needed the work done quickly so that we could get new windows installed. Harry came back with a reasonable quote. He was a little late on the start window but as soon as he got there, he got right to work. He was able to complete the work in about 5 hours and only one small trip to Home Depot in between. He was knowledgeable and made sure we were satisfied with the job before he cleaned up."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

It is generally recommended to remove window screens for the winter, especially in climates with heavy snow, freezing rain, or frigid temperatures. Removing them helps prevent damage to the screen mesh and frames that can be caused by ice and moisture buildup between the screen and the window. Taking out the screens also allows more natural light and warmth into your home during shorter winter days and makes it easier to clean your windows thoroughly. In warmer climates where harsh weather is not a concern, the decision is more about personal preference; some homeowners prefer the clearer view, while others leave them in for convenience.

Yes, adding windows adds value to a brick house. Homeowners don’t shy away from more natural light and an opportunity to get fresh air. Adding a window is particularly beneficial if you live in an area with good weather for much of the year or if your home has a nice view. Keep in mind that many older brick homes have historic wood windows that add to the charm of the house. When you install a new window in a brick house, you’ll want to find one that matches the aesthetic of the existing windows.

While windows increase a home’s value, how much they increase it can vary. It depends on the age of the home and the type of windows. You can expect about 70% to 85% return on investment (ROI) when adding a window to your home.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.

While sometimes used interchangeably, screen doors and storm doors have key differences. Screen doors are simple structures, typically composed of just a frame and a screen, designed to keep out bugs while allowing air circulation. In contrast, storm doors are heavier and more complex, built to protect your home's main entry door from weather and intruders. They usually feature an aluminum frame with interchangeable tempered glass and screen panels, allowing you to switch between ventilation and insulation. A storm door offers more protection and versatility but generally costs more than a basic screen door.
