"Needed custom blinds installed on two bedroom windows, and the job was completed right on time and turned out perfect. We will use 3 Day Blinds for all of our future window projects. Process was easy-peasy from start to finish."
"I am satisfied with the job that Home Genius has done here with my windows. The job was very neat, and the new windows look perfect. I am pleased with everything they did!"
"Made an appt. with Castle Rep, James, for 17 windows and vinyl siding. He spent 1 hour talking about how great his company and windows are before finally getting down to the issue. We were told that CASTLE makes and services their own window, with all the best technology and technicians available. The price per window for energy efficient came out to over $1,200 per double-hung window! And since they make their own products, we could not find a way to compare quality and price with other manufacturers. But his per-window price exceeds the average price of $500-700 by A LOT! When we balked, he made a call to his "manager" to see if we qualified for a "special promotional" discount. If we were to commit right there on the spot, we would get an additional 10% off! Still way to high. We said we would think about it (he got sad and snippy), and that we wanted to hear about the vinyl siding quote before we made any decisions. He told us he could not give us a siding quote until his company did an "eagle view" measurement, which would require another appointment! We had no intention of sitting through ANOTHER high-pressure appointment. High pressure, long-drawn out presentation and he would not leave us with anything in writing! No brochures, prices, nothing! He refused to put anything in writing and we could not have a break down of labor and costs. I even asked him if I could have a copyhh of the window warranty and he said "only if you purchase right now." And they did not come prepared with references or previous job locations! When we further researched the company, we found they did make very excellent products, but the #1 complaint was by far that they did not honor their lifetime warranty and that customer service was horrible. In the end, we chose not to do business.."
"I called Competitive Painters because they identified custom cabinet refinishing among their skills. Several companies had terminated discussions when they learned that the cabinets were in the master bathroom. Robert Coulter was not put off by that. He first came to our house to initiate an estimate on 5/6. He reviewed the water overflow damage to the cabinets and took pictures. He also suggested other related work his firm could do in the bathroom to restore the look we wanted. I told him that since I had to replace the toilet in the master bath, I was planning on replacing all 3 in the house with low water flow units. He gave me some good advice on purchasing them and suggested that his firm could install them. We like a clean modern look. and we could see that Robert understood what we wanted for the bathroom. He came back later in the month with a refacing plan that used wood rather than MDF on the faces, matched the paint and utilized the same hinges and hardware preserving the look of the bath. He and his crew were polite, punctual, friendly and efficient and cleaned up after themselves very well. Robert continued to make helpful suggestions throughout the process. They installed two of the new low flow toilets in June but due to the floor scheduling the third had to wait until the first week in July. Robert was very patient about the delay. Since flooring work was already planned [and turned out to be more complex than anticipated ] Robert and his crew were very good about scheduling around the floor work and our needed travel in June. The refacing was beautiful and much more compatible with the bath environment than the previous faces. My wife and I believe it will last much longer now."
"Mega Kitchen and Bath remodeled our bathroom and we couldn?t be happier to have worked with them. Throughout the whole process, from picking out finishes with Ibrahim to demolition and installations, the amount of detail and time put into our project was excellent. The managers and workers were on the job site every day to make sure all details were taken care of. The time line given was followed as promised and they finished the work on time. We are very pleased with the final result and are looking forward to work with them again soon.

"Wilson and his crew are amazing! They fixed an armoire door (antique French, so no hinges) when no one else was able to do so, and restored its veneer and cleaned the glass on the doors which had 200 years of mineral deposits. Next, they reupholstered a barrel chair, doing a beautiful job; it looks better than when I first bought it. Wilson has over 40 years of restoration experience with the Catholic Church in Italy and Ecuador, and it shows. He is also very personable and diligent when informing his customers of their job status. I highly recommend d them."
"I hired this company based on reviews from Angie's list. My experience was a bit different than the A + rating they had. The answered my call for a quote and arrived on time. The communicated in Spanish about everything. We all walked the house together and I pointed out everything that needed painting. We had a discussion about the master bath, the last words I heard George senior tell me was "we can fix this". They quoted me a price of $3400.00 and said if I got everything done at once, he would take $200.00 off. I didn't get other quotes because I just moved in and time was a factor, so I can't really comment on price. During the week, they dropped of a large paint sample thing to make may choices from. They arrived early to start the two-day job, a Friday and a Saturday. They finished the job on Saturday, as promised. My master bath was not painted, the wood on the steps was not painted, they removed all the drapery hardware and it was tossed out apparently, they took a blind down in the master bedroom and I had to remind many times for them to fix it, they did with crazy glue. The walls and ceiling are beautiful but the trim is horrible. I am still painting over spots that were missed or the paint was wiped off when they cleaned the floors. There was a quarter sized drop of paint on my maple dining room table. There was a large spot of white trim paint on the colored wall in the hall, but worst of all I continue to clean small spots and areas where there is white paint on the oak floors. They did do me one favor and lift a TV back up above the fireplace that had been taken down for painting. They did leave all the extra paint in the basement, one bucket not closed and has a paint roller floating in it. The worst thing was them teasing my dogs and getting them agitated and pushing each other towards them and laughing. Overall, I don't think I had an "A" experience. Unfortunately I would not recommend them or use them again. "
"Excellent! Worked with me as I was having surgery and needed to delay the order. Sent swatches per my request quickly. Good to work with. A really good deal for the money! "
Not all windows are suitable for shutters, as certain styles can prevent them from functioning correctly. It's best to avoid installing shutters on bay windows, picture windows, dormer windows, and double-mulled windows. Shutters are better suited for large, full-size standard windows or French doors.
Additionally, consider the room's lighting needs. Since shutters effectively block light, they are an excellent choice for rooms where you want more darkness and privacy, such as a master bedroom or a main living room. For window types that are not ideal for functional shutters, some homeowners choose to install fixed (non-functional) shutters to maintain a consistent look across the home.
Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.
Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
Estate shutters offer more energy efficiency, privacy, and light control than blinds. They provide better insulation against heat and cold, lowering your energy bills. They’re also sturdy, durable, and last much longer than blinds (up to 50 years or longer). They’re also low-maintenance and can add curb appeal to your home. The return on investment (ROI) for estate shutters is around 75%.
