"So wonderful to work with. They did the painting and wallpaper in my nursery and it came out perfectly, better than I was hoping. They made sure I ordered my wall mural with the correct dimensions and not only was the measurement spot on, but the application of the panels was seamless. Even added a cute wallpaper detail to my light switch cover AND put the crib in the room together. Would absolutely work with again"

Customers say: Quick response

"Michael and his assistant, Jose, did a superb job painting and wallpapering a study and bathroom. My husband said it was the best wallpapering job he'd ever seen. We used a difficult pattern and he matched it perfectly, even when we were down to our last wallpaper ends, trying to finish a spot above a door. They were prompt, worked a full 8-5 day, and were as unobtrusive as possible while working. We highly recommend him."

"I had one room completely blueboarded with new plaster and then painted. I would give that a 10. I also had a hallway ceiling replastered and painted. Also a 10. I wanted to paint the walls in the stairwell which had wallpaper. Contractor chose to remove the wallpaper and paint instead of new plaster. The walls weren't in great shape and the painters didn't smooth some bad patch work so I had some areas that don't look great. When I pointed them out and expressed unhappiness, he simply said "Bad walls." So I'd go with a 7 for the stairwell. Overall good job."

"Jay and his team at Discovery Home Improvement were outstanding in every way - friendly, professional, hard working . . The project was primarily exterior painting of a five bed -room house and carpentry work as a preliminary to the painting - a garage window and a basement window needed replacing, along with exterior woodwork and window sill repair. We are incredibly happy with the results and hope to have Jay return to work on the interior of the home."

"Seriously, look no further, Jimmy is your guy! Jimmy recently wallpapered our dining room, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Ill start by saying particular does not come close to describing my level of attention to detail. Our wallpaper pattern is intricate and required a plan to get it right. Jimmy took the time to discuss areas which might be of concern before getting started. For example, we have about an inch of clearance below crown molding and above the window trim. Jimmy was incredibly patient, even changing out a strip that I was focusing on. Seriously, it is perfect, I could not find a pattern issue even if I tried. Jimmy went above and beyond papering our simple white light switch covers. The compliments are pouring in! Not only was Jimmy professional, arriving on time, using his own tools and supplies, and straightening up at the end of the day, but he was very personable. He was so kind teaching me about his craft and we had great conversations about Ireland. His rates are very competitive. Of note, I had already obtained the paper before hiring Jimmy. He came to our home and completed the job in one day."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to hang your own wallpaper, but the process is tedious and potentially frustrating, and it can be challenging to get seams to line up and look clean and professional. Plus, depending on the type of wallpaper you’re installing, using too much or too little adhesive could cause damage to your drywall or plaster, peeling, and bubbling in the final product. It’s usually a better idea to hire a professional wallpaper installer to do the work for you, as the relatively low cost is justifiable, if only to avoid damage to your walls.

While peel-and-stick wallpapers require no time to cure, the adhesives for other types of papers will take a day or two to dry and up to three weeks to fully cure. The differences are the type of paper, the type of adhesive, and the humidity and temperature in the space.

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

Your peel-and-stick wallpaper can fall off for multiple reasons, including high humidity levels, extreme temperature changes, poor installation, and even the wall surface. Textured walls can prevent the adhesive from fully sticking to the wall, making it more likely for the wallpaper to peel off. Low-quality wallpapers with weaker adhesives are also more likely to fall off prematurely.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.
