"Sebastian and Johan did a phenomenal job on my living room wallpaper project. Everything - from start to communications to finish - went very smoothly and well. I am particularly impressed by their attention to detail and their willingness to go the extra mile to do good work. The installation required some wall repair and painting the room white before hanging the wallpaper, and Sebastian and Johan handled it all with a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and professionalism. I would hire them again in an instant. The room looks fantastic!!"

"Marcio's team was outstanding. Needed a ceiling replaced to cover water damage, and older tile blocks, and entire apartment wallpaper removal. Marcio did outstanding work at a competitive price. They were in and out in a single day plus a few hours. Great cleanup and care was taken. Arrived at 7AM to start work. Showed up when promised. I highly recommend Marcio and Master Plastering & Services. I'm looking at additional work for this team. Thank you!"

"Jay's men arrived on time every day, were extremely polite and professional, and did a fantastic job. My walls were not in good shape and they repaired and prepped them so well they now look like New. I am very pleased with the job they did and believe the price charged was reasonable. I would definitely use this company again."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

You should be aware of the current wallpaper and interior trends before hanging it, especially if you are planning on selling or listing your home soon. Do people in your market tend to prefer bold designs and accent walls, or does having a simpler print all over seem like a better idea? Lastly, you want something that appeals to your aesthetic preferences; hanging wallpaper is an investment of your time and money after all.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.
