Customers say: Quick response

"Roy was a lifesaver! On a Saturday night I realized my house keys went missing and I got an almost immediate response when I reached out. I made an appointment with him for the morning and he called 15 min prior to tell me he was on his way. When he arrived he was a few minutes early. He had my condo door unlocked in less than 5 minutes and I thought what he charged me, for a house call on Easter Sunday, was very fair. I really appreciated how responsive and reliable Roy was. I will definitely recommend him next time someone I know needs a locksmith."

"Dave Smith was AWESOME! Very knowledgeable and patient. We added new items to our order at the 12th hour and he came back twice to make sure that everything was completed as we desired. We also had Alarm Protection Group secure our office. Dave Smith and Co. make the process very easy-Highly recommended."

"We are so grateful we found Bob for our mother's handyman services. He took our lenghty repair list and took the time to go through item by item and explain the different options and price points for each repair/replace, then gave us his professional opinion on how to proceed. His work is fantastic. He's friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. We will absolutely hire him again."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Yes. Most deadbolts purchased from a home improvement store include a step-by-step installation template that is easy to follow, even for novice DIYers. One of the most important steps for successful deadbolt installation is having the proper tools to start with and carefully measuring prior to any attempts at installation.

Any type of dead bolt lock provides the highest level of safety for a single device. However, it’s also important to determine a lock's grade. Locks can come in either Grade 1, Grade 2, or Grade 3, which indicates how durable it is and if it’s constructed solidly. Safety experts recommend choosing locks based on Grade 1, which offers the highest level of durability.

Most door knobs can be removed with a Phillips or flathead screwdriver. If you don’t have either of those available, a paper clip or small pin can sometimes work, but the extra effort may not be worth a quick trip to the hardware store.

Smart door locks are safe to use and are usually considered safer than traditional locks with keys. While all electronic devices can be hacked, that doesn’t happen nearly as frequently in real life as people may think. You can also invest in multiple locks of different types for enhanced security so you don’t rely solely on one smart lock.

Smart locks offer a similar level of safety to traditional or conventional locks because they often use comparable locking mechanisms, such as deadbolts. The primary difference is the access method: smart locks use a login or code instead of a physical key, which adds convenience. While not inherently safer, some smart locks have added security features that can deter intruders, like shutting down after too many incorrect code attempts or being harder to pick. For the best security, it's recommended to combine any lock with other home safety features like motion-activated lighting, security cameras, and window and door sensors.
