"The Fence Guys are great to work with. John was super helpful from the beginning and really helped us figure out what we needed for a fence. John was always very responsive and got the job done when he said he could do it. The fence came out great and really made the yard perfect for our needs. Thanks to John and his Team of hard workers, the fence was put up in a day, in less than ideal conditions. We did a combination of picket fence and welded wire. Some with wood-posts and some with metal. He worked with our landscape, and recaptured plenty of yard by not being afraid to push the boundaries of where the fence can go. The Fence Guys did all the work and never asked us to clean / remove any brush along the way. Taking extra time to make sure we had the best use of land and fence. Leaving the worksite in great shape when they were finished. Great job Fence Guys."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Available customizations include color choices, textures, gate additions, and decorative toppers to fit various design preferences.

The lifespan of a fence can range from 5 to 50 years, depending heavily on the material, local climate, and how well it is maintained. For example, a wooden fence might last 7 to 15 years, while a vinyl fence typically lasts 20 to 30 years. Metal, composite, and glass fences have some of the longest lifespans. Proper maintenance, such as regular cleaning, inspections, and staining or sealing for wood, is key to extending the life of any fence material. Vinyl and composite are durable options that don't require sealing.

You’ve likely been considering lots of wood fence ideas for your yard. There are many reasons why people choose split rail fences time and again. For one, they’re one of the most wallet-friendly fencing options, especially since you don’t need to use much hardware and setting the posts doesn’t require concrete or foam. So if you have a large property and want to fence it in, your best bet may be a split rail fence.

Yes, installing a picket fence is a manageable DIY project for homeowners with basic tools and some patience. The process involves marking the fence line, digging post holes, setting the posts, and attaching horizontal rails and pickets. However, precision is key to ensure the fence is straight and sturdy, which can be challenging for beginners. If the fence line is long, the ground is uneven, or you’re working with more complex materials like metal or composite, hiring a pro may be a better option.

Regular maintenance for wire fencing includes annual inspections for rust or damage, tension adjustments every two to three years, and immediate repair of any breaks or loose sections. You should also regularly check the fence posts for stability, particularly after severe weather, and make sure to remove any vegetation growing along the fence line.
