"I was looking to repair the putty around the panes on a 1930s vintage clear glass window and was afraid I got someone who specialized in stained glass and wouldn't want my job but he did a great job and even helped me with a second window I had forgotten about (only shows from the outside but needed same attention). Very flexible, very personable, a pleasure to work with. Thanks, Ken!"

"Cristiano and his team did an excellent job on our new mosaic kitchen backsplash and a new mosaic tiled floor in our half bathroom. Prices were competitive and the install crew was efficient, polite, neat and always masked. I would highly recommend Camp Tile for any tiling work!"

"Made an appt. with Castle Rep, James, for 17 windows and vinyl siding. He spent 1 hour talking about how great his company and windows are before finally getting down to the issue. We were told that CASTLE makes and services their own window, with all the best technology and technicians available. The price per window for energy efficient came out to over $1,200 per double-hung window! And since they make their own products, we could not find a way to compare quality and price with other manufacturers. But his per-window price exceeds the average price of $500-700 by A LOT! When we balked, he made a call to his "manager" to see if we qualified for a "special promotional" discount. If we were to commit right there on the spot, we would get an additional 10% off! Still way to high. We said we would think about it (he got sad and snippy), and that we wanted to hear about the vinyl siding quote before we made any decisions. He told us he could not give us a siding quote until his company did an "eagle view" measurement, which would require another appointment! We had no intention of sitting through ANOTHER high-pressure appointment. High pressure, long-drawn out presentation and he would not leave us with anything in writing! No brochures, prices, nothing! He refused to put anything in writing and we could not have a break down of labor and costs. I even asked him if I could have a copyhh of the window warranty and he said "only if you purchase right now." And they did not come prepared with references or previous job locations! When we further researched the company, we found they did make very excellent products, but the #1 complaint was by far that they did not honor their lifetime warranty and that customer service was horrible. In the end, we chose not to do business.."

"Yes the work was done. The two guys that came put in 7 windows and two big bay windows in one day. They did not even taken a break. They cleaned up the small pieces of scrap. Then one week later they came back and put in two new doors with the same professionalism when they did my doors."

"Louis from Ranieri Construction evaluated the scope of the project and provided an estimate with phase by phase options depending on what was found during each phase. This included excavating the existing skimmer and pressure testing of the existing lines. Our pool is estimated to be 40 years old. Its construction is somewhat unique with a concrete bottom and fiberglass walls. Louis' careful excavation of the skimmer revealed that the fiberglass wall is fastened to rebar running along the enter outside edge of the pool. This was valuable information as if we had approached this project differently demolition of the concrete deck would likely result in the pool collapsing. Louis is excellent at explaining the details of the work and the options available. He excavated the and replaced the skimmer, cut the concrete deck to create a new trench, replaced the skimmer lines, replumbed the feed and return lines at the pump and filter and laid the new concrete in the trench. I would highly recommend Ranieri Construction."

Glass Block Windows questions, answered by experts

Glass walls are more expensive overall than their brick or drywall counterparts. However, if you need walls for a building with more than two or three stories, glass walls are the more budget-friendly option.

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Glass block windows aren’t fire hazards; fire-rated glass block windows can increase your home’s fire safety. Modern glass blocks are made with materials that can resist high temperatures and prevent fire spread. Most offer a 45-minute fire rating, while some increase it to two hours. Compared to the typical 20 to 90 minute rating for a double-pane window, glass block can increase your home’s safety in the event of a fire.

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.
