"We hired Bob Phalan to replace the surrounding trim after we had installed new garage doors. He estimated 1½ days. But upon removal of the exist aluminum siding, structural damage including carpenter ant damage and a rusted-cracked lally column were discovered. Bob made required repairs replacing 2x4s, the lally column, plywood, insulation, wall board, and plastering. Then he was able to begin work on the vinyl trim. We showed Bob a photo of the “look” we wanted to achieve and he achieved it perfectly. He was at our home for 3 very long days, the cost of his work was very reasonable."

"The guys showed up in a pickup with a ladder and very few tools.  It concerned me that this would end up being more of a sales call rather than doing minor repairs.  After half an hour it felt like that's what it ended up being.  I don't believe any repairs were done and I was told that I should consider a new roof.  This was after a historically bad winter where I imagine roofers were quite busy and their quote seemed to reflect that as it felt very high.  Admittedly I didn't get any other quotes to compare them against but I did see numerous offers on Angie's List for significantly less than their cheapest quote.

"Eric's team rebuilt our entire three season room, which was not functional. It is now, thanks to Mike and Brian. It also looks very good! Mike works hard at getting things done, and teaches the younger crew very well. He is structured and trustworthy. He also was patient answering my questions (I always have too many..!). "Todd and Dave were great. They were extremely professional and the quality of their work was more than I expected. During the cabinet installation they were able to use extra material to create extra shelving and a great decoration piece that covered over an ugly vent pipe jutting out of a wall that wasn't originally in the designers plans. It came out looking beautiful and you would never have guessed it was there. They were very friendly and easy to work with guys which was relieving after meeting with other contractors for quotes and getting attitude on size of the job and that I didn't buy the cabinets or counter top through them. Would highly recommend as Todd stands by his quote (minus unforeseen issues for materials) and is a honorable contractor to work with."

"We hired Bertie Walsh to re-do our garage ceiling which had been incorrectly repaired by a different contractor (not a contractor found on Angie's List).  Bertie was a godsend because after he removed the ceiling he pointed out to us that the previous contractor had failed to connect the blue board to the joist (not sure if that's the right word) and there also wasn't any strapping holding it to the subsurface, which would have caused it to eventually bow out.  Bertie put a new section of ceiling up and finished it with plaster and did a remarkable job matching the existing ceiling.

Bertie is quiet and hard working.  No fluff with this guy.  He's an honest, no-nonsense guy who will give you a very reasonable quote, will show up when he says he will, and then quietly and diligently do the work.  He cleaned up well after the work was completed.  I found myself looking for other things that needed plastering or handiwork around the house just so we could hire him again.  Yep, he is that good!

"Tom Cromer was great to work with throughout the project. He personally came by the house several times before the project started to discuss the details of the work?often in the evening or on weekends to accommodate my schedule. He did a lot of the work himself and watched his crew's work closely. When the project was done he did several "final passes" with me to ensure I was happy with the results before collecting the final payment.
Tom was easy to talk to and always easy to reach. He endured several project changes and delays caused by my electrical contractor without a complaint (or a charge), even canceling a family vacation to keep a few of his projects on track. The team that works for him are talented, friendly, and were very respectful of the house.
From the beginning, Tom and his crew were very collaborative and amenable to all requests I made. He wisely challenged a few of my ideas when he was convinced I wouldn't be happy with the results. At one point he even did some extra work to show me the solution he thought I'd like better. He was right each time. He never nickel-and-dimed over the details of the project and was completely transparent over the expenses incurred at my request (structural engineer, trash removal, etc).
