I've installed blinds from select blinds in every room in my home, plus blinds I installed on the 2 glass entry way doors that are west facing on the back side of my home. The quality is excellent, and considering they are custom made, I received them quicker than expected. These are by far the best blinds on the market. Dan Quin

We hired Mill Design and Blinds for the second time after purchasing a new home, and it was an easy decision for us! Once again the team assessed our needs, visited the home and took detailed measurements, and made recommendations that were just perfect! It was a large job too - as we needed blinds for every window in our home - but they made it easy. And now that they're installed, we love the new blinds - especially the sliding blind for our patio door! The installation was so efficient as well, as they removed the old blinds and even found a vendor who was willing to receive them and give them a second life. The guys are super friendly and professional, as it's a family business and they love what they do. They were respectful of our home and were done in no time. And it completely transformed the space when they were done! My wife and I wouldn't hire anyone else for this work

RJ Scalzi & Sons

You may be reading this because hiring contractors to do work you know little about is a bit anxiety provoking and can result in some unpleasant results. Even though I have a background in engineering and construction, I moved forward with vinyl siding my home with some trepidation. My wife and I did some research and through a friend’s recommendation hired RJ Scalzi and Sons. The work scope included replacing fascia boards, rake boards, gutters, shutters and downspouts and installing vinyl siding. Jason and Matt showed up on time, and it very soon became clear that they were extremely skilled at their craft. Through every step of the project, they took measures to minimize inconveniencing us, including location of work vehicles and work benches, preventing damage to lawn, shrubs and trees, securing artwork on walls and shelves to prevent damage, communicating updates on schedule and timelines and maintaining a neat work area. Not only did it appear that Jason and Matt were talented, but it was also obvious that they have honed an extremely efficient team that executes work safely, quickly and with the highest quality. Two minor unexpected and out of work scope problems arose during the project that instead of dropping on my lap, as they rightfully could have, they took action and got resolved. Over the days Jason and Matt worked on our home, we were constantly impressed with the quality and efficiency of their work. A major plus was the professional, considerate and friendly demeanor both young men exhibited throughout the project. We enjoyed listening to their good natured banter, that didn’t slow them down one bit, and interacting with them. The completed project looks great and met all of our requirements, a neighbor even stopped by and asked for an estimate. Jason and Matt’s ability to combine high quality efficient work with very winning personal ways made the vinyl siding of our house a great experience and this may sound strange, but it was fun to have them around. We highly recommend RJ Scalzi and Sons for all vinyl siding work at your home, so don’t get stressed -- call Scalzi

Rob came to the house within 15 minutes of speaking with him and we had chosen a beautiful pleated shade for our newly remodeled bathroom. It was just the finishing touch that was need to add a pop of color. The color selection of shades from Hunter Douglas is phenomenal! Thank you Rob.

Dana was fantastic! He was prompt and immediately diagnosed the problem with our curtain rod. He was able to re-install it much more solidly than it had been in before and also demonstrated options we had with extending the curtain rod. Just a pleasure – we would happily hire him again.

I was able to order cellular shades and high-quality bathroom blinds at an amazing price to complete the needed window coverings for my home. I had an appointment very quickly, they did the measuring, I chose the colors, and a couple weeks later, they installed all of the window coverings in an hour. If you've been putting off the installation of cellular shades because of the hassles of DIY measuring and installation or affordability, you would do yourself a favor by contacting Shades For 99

We had two sets of vertical blinds (Graber) installed - one in the living room for a patio door, one in the dining room for a large bay window. They did an outstanding job. Timely service, very good quality, reasonable price. I would use them again. Highly recommended. Timely service

"Job: Master Bathroom Rebuild (roughly 5’x8’; mold damage) Cost: ~$19k Deposit Date: 9/23 Demo Start Date: 1/7 Final Construction: 4/6 Final Inspection: ???? Pros: -Good tile work -Commitment to re-doing steps and correcting problems in construction -Replaced damaged shower kit at contractor cost -Mother internal work crews seem high quality Cons: -Pitched a smooth, professional process that wasn’t at all -Sub-contracted job to inexperienced crew that conducted a horrible build -Achieved no target dates -Did not effectively oversee sub-contracted crew or catch significant build errors/delays -Multiple lines of communication made project clarity difficult -Bathroom project predicted at 3 week build took 3 months with multiple stoppages Our bathroom rebuild was a small master bath that needed a complete renovation due to black mold that was discovered from underneath in the garage. The previous owner-installed shower system was leaking around seals for years. No major relocation of fixtures, plumbing, shower, toilet, etc. Mother was at the higher end at our estimates, but sold us through the consistent assurances of a painless and professional process, and the pledge that once the project started, crews would not leave until completed. After a three month delay due to town permitting and materials acquisition, Mother then sub-contracted the work to a team they don’t usually work with. We weren’t aware of this until late in the project when it really left the rails. The promised professional process was anything but. The crew conducted demo with no dust control, workers wore inadequate COVID masking (if they wore it at all), hours on site were unpredictable and inconsistent (and not the contracted 8 hours for work day), and there were often days-long gaps within the job. Sometimes these were predictable because of needing to order extra materials, or worker illness, or weather issues. But many were not. There were also significant pieces of the build—shower installations especially—that required me to reach out and insist on complete re-installations or to alert management of an unknown installation about to happen. Near the end of the project it became clear that the sub-contracted site manager had been lying to both client (us) and Mother Construction about the nature and pace of the progress (and I had only seen him on-site twice in 7 weeks). Mother then terminated that team for the remaining weeks of the build and assigned members of their full-time crews to finish the project. There was a decisive shift in quality of construction and COVID precautions when it switched to Mother’s main crews. Their shower door specialists, plumbers, and primary contractors were fantastic. So some bottom lines: (1) We like our bathroom and the finished product is what we wanted at the outset. (2) It seems obvious that many of the problems stemmed from the sub-contracted group who was doing poor work on site and lying to Mother about the pace and quality of the projects. (3) There were times we voiced our displeasure with the teams to management, and earlier steps weren’t taken to rectify the problems until the team termination and change at the very end. (4) The main reason we chose Mother over other outfits was entirely their commitment and promises about the process, and the company sub-contracted the work out to a poor crew and they failed to deliver, and in a painful 3-month process. We don’t bear any personal ill will toward upper level Mother management and operations overseers. They’re responding to a market driven to crazy places right now with low interest rates and everyone begging for renovation projects. And they had a sub-contracted team that lied to them. So we understand those difficult tensions and the pull for taking on new business. But they did also sub-contract out a job, and thus took on a risk for which we all ended up paying a price. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mother lost money on our project by the end based upon the number of fixes and re-dos. On the one hand, if a client could get a guaranteed assurance from Mother that the work would be conducted by their primary teams, I’d imagine that project could get closer to what Mother promises. On the other hand, Mother personnel admitted that over 20 projects were being conducted at once during our project, and that surely contributed to the decision to pass off our (simpler) project. Mother seems to be taking on more jobs than their internal work crews can manage such that they have to rely on other teams to complete simpler jobs, and they didn’t deliver on their assurances. So I don’t know if there is a scenario where we’d consider going with Mother on another house project.

"From start to finish it all went great. Had a sales rep ( Chuck) at our home within a day or two. He was professional, on time and very knowledgeable about the products . There were no pressure tactics to get us to commit to a contract , we did have an estimate from another company and he made a call and matched the price. He took all the measurements that night from the rooms and hallways and set up the installation at our convenience.
Day 1 of installation:
They have separate crews for carpet and wood laminate , day 1 was the wood laminate. It was a crew of 2 men right on time and very professional, Before they started they had me look at the samples that we chose for the floor to make sure that it was correct and they were off and running seemed to have worked non-stop all day until it was finished and did a walk through with me to make sure I was satisfied. They cleaned up all the debris from the work and swept and vacuumed the work area before they left. There were no problems at all during the installation.
Day 2
Once again the carpet crew ( 3) was right on time the next day. Pretty much the same scenario showing me samples and verifying the colors for each room of carpet. As soon as i said a color was correct one of the guys immediately started working on the room, while the other started ripping up old carpet from the living room. Once again they worked seemingly non-stop until complete. cleaned up all of their debris and vacuumed the rugs. Very professional and polite when speaking with them.
A few days later the wood laminate developed a squeak that sounded like stepping on a partially deflated whoopee cushion. I called the 800 number as they are looking for 100% satisfaction and they sent the laminate guys back out and took care of the problem within 48 hours. so all in all I am 100% satisfied with Empire and would be happy to use them again.

"MA Design was an amazing partner for our bathroom renovation. As with any old home, there were some issues we knew about (e.g. lack of vent, mysterious 2-inch threshold, plumbing stack below roof line), and then there were the mystery issues we knew we were bound to discover. We needed true professionals who could handle anything we found, and the entire MA team rose to every challenge. Our project finished within the timeline (minus a small glass delay) and would have finished on budget if we hadn’t added to scope and gone for some higher end finishes. It was a huge undertaking but we are so happy with how the project came out and still can’t believe it’s our bathroom. Marc and Raquel were fantastic to work with and we’d definitely recommend them!
