"I hired Bob to do repairs and renovation of a condo rental unit. He renovated the bathroom with new tiles, replacing bathroom rotten wood frame window with a vinyl frame, installing new light fixtures and repairing bathroom plumbing, repairing torn screens, as well as repainting interior walls and trim throughout the unit and installing new shades throughout. He also plastered water-damaged ceilings and cleaned and organized the basement storage area. On the exterior he replaced a rotted window frame and missing clapboards, then patched and painted the wall. Bob arrived early each day and worked diligently. Bob is a great problem solver and works with you to suggest ways to do repairs for the best outcome while keeping costs down. His work is high quality. I would definitely hire him again."

"I hired Rudy’s Carpentry & Painting to repair my indoor stairs, and the results were excellent. Rudy and his were professional, courteous, and respected my 300 year home throughout the project. The repair was done with precision — the stairs are now sturdy, safe, and look fantastic. Rudy completed the work on schedule without cutting corners. "Bob Pino did an excellent job on multiple handyman tasks in my home. He responded quickly, was very knowledgeable, thorough, professional and skilled in the work done. He completed smaller tasks and efficiently repaired an entryway ceiling, with a second person assisting to get it done quickly. His workmanship was skilled and he did a great job with numerous small repairs, installed an under cabinet TV and patiently explained pros and cons of different repair options. I recommend him highly."

"Gaby was the perfect person for this project. We reviewed it over the phone. He came a few days later to measure the project and came back the next week to install. We texted back and forth to keep in touch. Perfect solution to fix my outdated file drawers! Very pleased!"

"Larry Devaux did an excellent job on my stairs, despite a short period and quick deadline that i gave him. He worked very hard each day and put a lot of effort and detail into making my stairs look really nice, and he gave a very fair price as well. I would recommend Larry for any home improvement needs"

Customers say: Quality work

"I called terry to see if my counter could be raise as my new dishwasher would not fit where my old one was. I was told I had to either cut the floor or do the counter over He said it would be a lot of work as I have tile that would have to be cut. He then asked if he could try something and guess what he got my dishwasher in with no cutting that the other guy said I had to do. Terry and Dave are the best. Thank you"

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.
