Locally owned and operated since 1980. We are Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professionals (MCLP) and Certified Irrigation Contractors (CIC). We offer prompt response, quality materials, and personal service. Our company has a long standing reputation of honesty and integrity. We stand by our work and hope to include you as one of our many satisfied customers.

"Services were performed as requested. The company's crew showed up on Mondays on a regular basis to cut our lawn. The irrigation system malfunctioned early in the summer resulting in large bare patches. The irrigation folks were obviously not informed as the lawn mowers kept mowing as the bare spots appeared and grew."

"Spring clean-up was good. Some branches of a ground cover evergreen were broke & sheered(discovered later that spring). The estimate included debris removal, but that was lost in translation, never got done. Our yard is a 3rd of an acre including the house's foundation, yet it took 8 yds of mulch. Well, that's what we were charged, anyway. Word to the wise, always insist on a bill with your name on it from the wholesaler supplying the mulch to make sure you're getting what you pay for! Especially, if it's being dispensed from the back of a truck! We used to order 3 yds. of mulch and have it delivered. So, I know what 3 yrds of mulch can cover. We would then distribute the mulch throughout the yard. It seemed to be sufficient. So, when you find yourself weeding beds when you paid for a lot of mulch you've got to wonder, did I really get 8 yds of mulch? In my opinion, I don't think so. We also had a couple of trees cut down to the ground with the understanding they would come back(when it was less busy) to plant a tree in the void created. Haven't heard from them since. I guess they don't always return to the scene. Kiril, you said you'd call me in June/July to plant that tree, Remember? Updated 8/7/2019: rebuttal to provider's response Review Text: We discussed the pile of brush during your initial visit and it was supposed to be part of your estimate. When you finished the original job, the pile of brush was still there. I pointed that out to you and at that time you said that would be a separate charge. I let it go. Did you include the 2 yds of mulch you claimed you had in your truck from a previous job? Your paperwork doesn't prove anything! If there was 3" to 4" of mulch in the beds, there would be no weeds. Not with 5 yds. or 8 yds. on less than a 3rd of an acre. You called me a couple of weeks ahead of your scheduled appt. to say you had a day free and wanted to do the mulch. I should have realized something was up. No, I'm not changing my review, because in my opinion I did not get what I paid for."

Give yourself the lawn of your dreams with a hand from your local lawn service experts. For nearly 50 years, Lawn Doctor's experts have been helping homeowners achieve greener, healthier grass. By using superior materials, relying on exclusive equipment, and customizing one-of-a-kind lawn service plans for every client, we give your grass exactly what it needs to thrive. The result? A lush, thick lawn that you and your family will fall in love with. If you're not 100% satisfied, we'll make it right. It's that simple. We are a local, family owned and operated business. Started in 1987, Jim Norton with the help of his four sons built the best and most reliable lawn care company in the area. We employ local and trustworthy professionals who are expertly trained and certified by the state. Our company is a long time member of the Better Business Bureau and has an A+ rating. We built our business on a reputation for honest, reliable services at a fair price.

"In Brewster, MA my lawn started off this spring best it had ever been. The service that did this didn't do regular fertilizing and weed control so I contracted with Lawn Doctor for Brewster and Newton. One week after the June treatment in Brewster our lawn started showing patches of dying grass in multiple locations including curved swathes where their tractor had to make turns on my yard. It was similar to the occasions when I had overtreated my lawn with fertilizer/weed killer. I contacted my rep at Lawn Doctor who urged me to wait (even though I sent him photos) and I regularly informed him that the lawn was not improving. He urged me to add another treatment called Summer Guard for extra cost without ever acknowledging they had damaged my lawn. I agreed and then changed my mind and cancelled everything out of frustration and distrust. They still showed up early one morning for a weed and fertilizer application which seemed to make things worse. Even though I had cancelled the Summer Guard and they never applied it, my credit card was charged $113. I asked for refunds as per their satisfaction guarantee and they offered a minimal $30 refund and then charged my card another $95! I had enough and talked to someone again to cancel both Brewster and Newton. All that happened was they acknowledged the cancellation. I then contacted my credit card company to dispute the past 4 charges and ultimately the credit card company decided to replace my credit card so Lawn Doctor couldn't charge it again. What a huge mistake!"

Lawn Fertilization and Treatment questions, answered by experts

Sulfur makes grass greener as it creates a rich, healthy growing environment. It can help reduce the pH level in the soil to ensure the roots can get all the nutrients they need, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Sulfur also makes grass denser, lusher, and stronger. It’s a soil amendment that can make a big difference in the health and appearance of your lawn.

Make your ryegrass thicker by boosting soil health. Add organic matter, aerate the lawn if the soil is compacted, fertilize appropriately, and see if your lawn needs dethatching. Your local lawn care service can come and look at your lawn and provide specific advice and remedies for your lawn issues.

Each season’s climate influences approaches needed for effective suppression.

Most businesses schedule services weekly or biweekly to maintain a professional appearance and healthy lawn.

You can fertilize right after mowing as long as you've collected the clippings. If you leave grass clipping, they can form a mat that prevents the fertilizer from reaching the soil. Plus, grass clippings are rich in nitrogen, so if you leave them and then apply fertilizer, you can end up with too much nitrogen in the soil.
