Finally, this year decided I had to bite the bullet. I got quotes from a number of companies, but BK & Sons offered the best price for the job with the changes I wanted (wider apron, reshaped parking area, etc) and the features I felt we’re important (10” of sub base, 2x 2” layers of asphalt vs 1 single 4” layer). My new driveway is so much better than I could have imagined. It’s laser straight where it once dipped and sagged, but they even improved the overall grade of my hill by raising up sections and lowering others to have a more consistent slope rather than a low spot and steep section. Sometimes, when people talk about asphalt driveways, they’re actually referring to asphalt concrete, which is a completely different compound. Asphalt concrete is asphaltic cement combined with sand or grit. It is significantly more lasting and durable than regular asphalt but also much more expensive. An asphalt overlay or top coat costs between $3 and $7 per square foot. For a standard, single-car driveway that’s 10 feet wide and 20 feet long, that’s a total of between $600 and $1,400. For a two-car driveway, you’re looking at a total of between $1,200 and $3,000.

Driveway paving costs around $4,500 on average, but depending on many factors, you could pay anywhere from $2,500 to $6,600 or more. The size of your driveway will usually be the most significant factor, with more square footage increasing your costs. You can expect to pay between $2 and $15 per square foot for paving services. Some other factors that play a role include the following:
