"The move was very smooth and efficient! The movers were cordial, on time and such a delight to work with. They were very quick in moving our stuff from one apartment to another but ensured that everything was left unscratched or damaged. Would highly recommend Stairhoppers for your next move!"

"Have moved in the past and months after the move we discovered some damage that went unnoticed. I have waited since 3/3/21, our move date, until now to write a review to make sure no damage was uncovered. Conor, Jimmy, Matt N, and Dakota did a great job. Very courteous and hard working crew that treated our belongings with care. Also, impressed with a gentleman who supervised the entire move. In previous moves with other companies we never had a person that only supervised and didn't do any of the labor. Highly recommend this company."

"Customer service was very friendly, and easy to talk to. They gave me a great price over the phone. The movers showed up on time to moved a piano. It was pouring rain when they got here. I was concerned until I saw them wrapping the piano with blankets, cardboard, and plastic stretch wrap. They were very professional and never tracked water or mud into the house. They took the same care delivering as they did the pickup. M&M Moving was definitely the right choice, they also had the best price by far!"

Moving questions, answered by experts

Using moving pods is generally cheaper than hiring a full-service moving company, primarily because you handle the packing and loading yourself, which eliminates labor costs. The cost savings are most significant for long-distance or cross-country moves; for local moves, hiring a moving company might be the more economical option. Renting and shipping moving pods can cost between $2,000 and $5,000, depending on factors like distance, the number of containers, and the weight of your items. Some services also charge a monthly rental fee of $75 to $200. In comparison, hiring a professional moving company for a long-distance move typically costs between $2,700 and $10,000.

It is best to book a moving company two to three months before your move-out date. This provides enough time to compare rates, organize your belongings, and find an available crew for your desired day and time. While you might find movers with only one or two weeks' notice, some companies require booking up to 90 days in advance.

Planning ahead is especially important if you're moving during the busy summer season when demand is highest. Summer weekends, in particular, book up quickly. Securing your movers well in advance helps you avoid the stress and potential extra fees of last-minute arrangements.

It’s best to book local movers about three months in advance to ensure your moving date is available, as most of the time, you’ll have a fairly tight window for moving your belongings. When booking your moving date, provide your moving team with as much detailed information as possible to prepare for the big day. Let your movers know an estimate of how many boxes they’ll move, any large or bulky items, number of bedrooms in your current home, the type of moving vehicle, and more.

The best way to transport plants when moving is to prep them properly, cover the soil, pack them tightly in boxes, and take extra precautions depending on state plant regulations, weather, and distance. You should be sure to fill in the gaps around your plants to minimize movement during transit and plan to unpack them shortly after arriving at your destination.

The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.
