"The move was very smooth and efficient! The movers were cordial, on time and such a delight to work with. They were very quick in moving our stuff from one apartment to another but ensured that everything was left unscratched or damaged. Would highly recommend Stairhoppers for your next move!"

"We heard of all service moving from a family members’ recommendation. Move went very smoothly! Nathaniel, SeaBass and Dominic really took care of our furniture, everything was neatly wrapped up so nothing would get damaged. Would hire again!"

"This was my second use of Fresh Start - The Moving Crew and as I said the first time, I would hire them again. In addition to moving everything on my original list, they also moved my delicate mirrors and art work. I was so very happy with their special handling of these items. I want to especially thank the crew manager, Rainell, and his team of Will, Tyler, Josh and Jake. Great job!!"

"leaking ceiling the night before. I used a snow rake to get off what I could that night from the ground, but could not move the ice. I started calling around the next morning. Robert was the only one who could come on short notice (30 minutes was considerably less than a couple of weeks). If I had half a brain, I would have called earlier in the week."

"Adam and his team are so kind, professional and do a fantastic job every trip. I am on the biweekly rotation and with how great my grass is doing if I ever move im going to check if they service my area before I go. The first time they came my grass was super overgrown and they explained to me clearly what their gameplay was then and asked me what I wanted with the space. I will recommend them to anyone who asks."

Moving FAQs, answered by experts

There are many places to get moving boxes, so it’s worthwhile to shop around and compare prices. Try big-box stores such as Walmart, as well as home improvement stores such as Lowe’s and The Home Depot. You can also try specialty places such as U-Haul or Office Depot. Finally, check online at Amazon or ask your friends or family if they have any spare moving boxes they could lend you.

Yes, you need insurance for a moving pod. Moving insurance is worth the cost because it can help pay to replace any damaged or destroyed items during the move. Without insurance, you’d be on the hook to pay for those replacements entirely out of pocket.

Murphy beds can be relocated, but moving them requires disassembly and may involve potential wall repairs. Professional help is recommended to ensure safe removal and reinstallation, which may incur additional costs. Improper handling during the move can damage the bed’s mechanisms or structure, so careful planning and expertise are essential.

Typically, local moves involve either renting a moving truck and moving yourself or hiring local movers to do the job. For long-distance moves, options include hiring a full-service moving company that handles packing, loading, transportation, and unloading, or using a self-moving service where you load your belongings into a container or trailer and have it transported. Another option is hiring professional movers for labor-only services, where they assist with loading and unloading your rented truck. You can also opt for moving pods or moving containers that can be transported to the destination.

The most expensive part of moving is hiring professional movers. However, hiring a pro is more efficient and less stressful, so many people find the cost worth it. You’ll also spend a lot of money on packing supplies, including boxes, tape, and bubble wrap, so ask around to see if any friends or family members have old supplies you can use for free.
