"Totally happy with the cost and work performed by Schmidt Painting. Work was completed in a timely manner with no interruption to my daily schedule. Replaced over thirty pieces of rotten trim with Azek, power washed, stained and painted entire exterior of house. Thumbs up to the Schmidt Painting crew."

Small jobs welcome

"Charles painted the second floor of my in-law's new home in Brewster. It was a large room with cathedral ceilings, stained walls and a textured ceiling .as well as a bathroom. His workmanship is top notch; it looks like a new house! He was reasonably priced, prompt, cleaned up at the end of each day and made some recommendations to help make everything look perfect. Would definitely use again and highly recommend him!"

Customers say: Terrific value

"FCL is an amazing company. From the owner Felipe to the rest of his crew, professionalism was evident. Punctual and exceptional quality of work. When one color of paint was not the color my wife like, FCL returned to apply another coat of the paint that my wife wanted. No problem. Felipe was very accommodating and we were totally satisfied. I strongly recommend FCL. We will use them again!"

"Anderson and his crew were very meticulous with great attention to detail. The exterior staining was a difficult project as my home had not been stained in many years and many shingles had to be replaced. His shingling crew did a fantastic job and the house looks awesome. Anderson checked on the work almost daily and he made sure that we were happy with the results. My husband and I would highly recommend Anderson and Sons Painting for any home project."

"The team tackled a tough job of a badly deteriorating deck floor and railing. It took several days of sanding to get to a level and smooth surface ready for staining. In addition, they did window trim, fixed pulpy garage door and widow sill areas, power washed house and deck and painting a portion of siding that was peeling. Overall, a good deal of work done after a great prep job."

"Andre and his crew are extremely hard working, and I would absolutely hire them again. Carpentry work was meticulous as was all the painting and staining which has made our house look brand new. They were very neat, cleaning up before they left each day. Nice people. They all seemed to really enjoy a job well done."

Painting questions, answered by experts

The best way to prepare your vinyl fence for a paint job is to clean it with warm, soapy water and rinse it with a hose or pressure washer on a low setting. Be sure to let it totally dry, then sand the surface before applying an epoxy-based primer. After the primer, you're ready to paint your vinyl fence.

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

You should repaint your fence every 1 to 3 years, depending on the appearance of wear and tear. Weather and usage will factor into how often you should paint another coat on your fence. If you need to replace a few fence boards or posts, you may want to consider repainting the fence to help protect the rest of the fence as well as the new pieces against damage and deterioration from being exposed to the elements.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.
