"The contractor, Jose, and his business partner walked through the rooms, listened to what we were hoping to accomplish, took notes and gave advice on each item.  They had the patience to pick items out at Home Depot with us.  They worked very quickly and efficiently and communicated by sending photos of the progress each step of the way.  The work was meticulous.  The bathrooms came out looking great.  Jose was fair with his estimates and stuck to them.  We will definitely use Jedson Home Maintenance in the future and will recommend them to others.

Small jobs welcome

"I?m so impressed with David?s work. He was very respectful of my home and took the time to do the job right. He saved my favorite wood rolling cart from falling apart and completely fixed my finicky front door. It?s a relief to have everything working properly again!"

"Eric and Bill were excellent at customer service. They called to confirm and when a delayed occur, they stayed in contact. They came prepared and worked continuously until the job was done. The end result was outstanding. Both were very professional and I would definitely hire them again for other projects."

Caulking Services questions, answered by experts

While handypeople do not need to be licensed in many places, you should only hire insured pros for any home improvement work. Your handyperson should have active liability coverage that protects them and you in the case of an error or accident. Furthermore, if they have employees on your property, they should also have workers’ compensation insurance. If you hire an individual or a company that is not insured and they damage your property, have an accident while on the job, or become injured on your property without insurance, you can be held financially liable.

Most contractors do not charge for meetings, but it can depend on the project, mainly if it includes detailed consultations or project planning. For general estimates, homeowners shouldn't expect to be charged. Always ask up front about meeting fees to avoid surprises and ensure you know what’s included in the process.

Reviewing your contract for termination terms is best when ending a relationship with a contractor. If there is nothing in the contract or you had a verbal agreement, communicate your decision in writing, citing specific reasons. Afterward, pay for the completed work per your original agreement. Remember you want a record of all correspondence in case you need a lawyer later to settle disputes.

Most professional appliance removal companies will not expect a tip, but offering one is a good way to show appreciation for a job well done. A tip of 10% to 20% is a good idea if your professionals are working in the rain or snow, if they take extra care not to damage your walls and furniture in the removal process, or if they need to maneuver the appliance through tight spaces or up or down stairs to get it out of your home.

Whether a scullery is worth it depends on how much you like to cook and entertain. If you frequently host gatherings—a scullery is likely worth the money. If you’re looking for ROI, it’s not so clear. It may not add significant value to your home, as it doesn’t increase square footage and may repurpose space that a buyer would have preferred to remain as-is (like a laundry room).
