"Fabulous job! We area already see the difference with the insulation through Mass Save about 25%! Mark and his crew were very professional, courteous, and really nice guys. Garrett did a great job with estimating and made the process very easy and recommended additional measures to explore. I highly recommended Green Collar!"

"Where oh where do I start with Robert! There are TOO many good things to say about working with this man! The first time I ever used home advisor was find a contractor that could do spray foam insulation. Right off the back he contacted me very quickly regarding my inquiry (another pro took 4 DAYS) I loved that he explained the process to me (I was thinking of DIY foam), but didn t try to steer my decision to hiring a professional. He laid out the facts and let me choose. He was able to check out both my houses right away and followed it up with two quotes like he said he was going to do. It is the WORST when someone says they re going to do that but never do. I hate having to ask repeatedly. With Robert you don t have to worry about that. His quote came in at HALF of his competitors price! He was very helpful at providing me a multitude of different options on each house to fit all the requirements of the town. The spray foam insulation when finished came out beautifully and he left the place cleaner than when he started! But here s the kicker... Robert went above and beyond his insulation expertise. He seemed knowledgeable beyond just the insulation so I asked him if he was proficient in any other types of construction. Turns out he s a jack of all trades and knows his stuff! I needed some serious last minute help on my houses and Robert delivered. I was in shock! He helped with demo, framing, installed cabinets and doors, and coordinated with my other contractors to problem solve some issues. I couldn t be more thankful to have met him. It s hard to find great, fair, reliable, affordable contractors nowadays. Robert has old school work ethic though. He has pride in doing his best. I m so glad to have him part of my flipping team. You will not be disappointed if you hire Robert Lamothe I can promise you that! Things went so well with Robert that I used home advisor again to search for a plumber. That worked out just as well too!"

"Roland did an excellent job. He explained the things I needed and those that I didn't. He was right on time and finished the job in the time he stated. He was very professional and knew what he was doing. If you are looking for a straight shooter without any of the sales frills (and the larger cost) then Sav-On Insulation should be your choice."

"Prompt estimate, called back every time I reached out, showed up on time, insulated our addition as specified and finished early. Came back to touch up something that got messed up by another contractor and did not complain or charge me. Rare experience in today's world with contractors. Would have given six stars if I could."

"Evey Step of the project was handled in a professional way. From an e-mail confirmation to look at the job to a phone call to say he was a few minuits late. When I had a question on the estimate Mark Tajima (partner) came back to the house to re measure. The Crew showed up on time, were curtious and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. The clean up was great . I would recomend them to all my friends . Yamil Brito (owner) talked to me on the phome to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction and they went above and beyond to fix a damp section of the basement wall. Overall A great experiance."

Drywall Insulation FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, taping inside corners is a critical step in the drywall installation process.  Properly taping inside corners is essential for achieving a professional look, and an installation that resists cracking and maintains its integrity over time. Taping the corners involves the application of a joint compound along the seam where two drywall pieces meet. This process provides reinforcement, conceals the seam, and prevents future gaps or cracks from developing.

You should start looking for a drywall installer by choosing a local company with positive online reviews and ratings with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Next, confirm that the professional is properly licensed using Angi’s contractor licensing tool, and ask the installer if they are fully insured. It’s a good idea to ask for recent customer references and call them to get their honest opinion about the contractor and their work. You can also ask the installer if they guarantee their work or provide a workmanship warranty.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.

The amount of drywall you need for a 1,000-square-foot basement depends on the ceiling height, angles, number of doors and windows, and more. To find the wall square footage, multiply the width and height of each wall, minus any gaps from windows or doors, and add the totals together. You’ll also need enough drywood nails or screws to install the drywall correctly.

Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.
