Customers say: True professional

"I could not be happier with the walkway that G & P installed at the front entrance of my home. Not only is the walkway now safe and correctly pitched with the driveway, it is stunning and has completely transformed the appearance of my property. From start to finish, the communication from Phil and Janice was excellent. Only a week has passed and I've had countless neighbors remark on how beautiful it looks."

"David and crew did an excellent job replacing our front walk with pavers and our driveway with asphalt, and Michelle did an excellent job with the customer service. Their price was very competitive with two other quotes that I got and I highly recommend them!"

"We spent 2 years renovating our house leaving our yard a giant mud puddle. Over the course of the winter, we worked with Ron to develop the landscaping plan. In the spring, his team re-leveled the entire lot, installed 2 patios with pavers, sod, a fence, prepped for a shed and put in a new asphalt driveway and vegetation. We are very happy with the final product."

"I signed up half way thru the winter. They responded well and very timely. I thought their prices were high. I was particularly annoyed that they came out to plow when just a 1/2 inch of snow fell. I did not see any other snow plows on the streets that day. They charge minimum $125 for this. I think they do not need to come out when 2 inches or less of snow has fallen. The cost below is for several events."

Asphalt Driveways questions, answered by experts

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

To ensure you hire a reliable and experienced paving company, you should start by finding companies in your area that have at least five to ten years of experience working in your neighborhood. Next, rule out companies with poor reviews online or a series of complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Since driveways affect your curb appeal, you should also ask each company for references and pictures of recent work to make sure the work the company does is professional and high quality. Finally, check that the company is licensed and insured.

Gravel is one of the few driveway materials that can handle rain the second it’s installed. Unlike asphalt, which needs days to set, or concrete, which requires weeks to cure, gravel is ready as soon as it’s compacted. It’s naturally permeable, allowing water to drain straight through—with no risk of pooling or surface damage. Gravel driveways are one of the most affordable, at $1 to $3 per square foot, and can also last upward of 100 years.

Asphalt and tarmac are not the same thing. Traditional tarmac, short for tarmacadam, uses tar as a binder to hold crushed stone together. Asphalt uses bitumen—a byproduct of crude oil—to bind aggregate. Though tarmac was once a go-to for roads, asphalt has become the modern standard. And these days, most surfaces referred to as “tarmac” are actually asphalt. So, while the names may overlap, the key distinction lies in the binder—tar for tarmac and bitumen for asphalt.

Asphalt paving offers several benefits, including cost-effectiveness and a quick installation process. It provides a durable and smooth surface, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. With proper maintenance, asphalt also offers longevity.
