"Not enough can be said about the positive experience we had with TNT Woodworks during some recent home repairs/renovations. Sadly, we were among the victims of the March 2018 nor’easters when a tree fell into our home causing more than $60,000 of damage. After obtaining three quotes, TNT Woodworks came in more than $14,000 less than the second lowest quote and they were a true pleasure to work with. While initially taken by their youthful appearance, it was clear from the start that Todd and Tabor are true, seasoned professionals. Throughout the project, there were daily communications on what has been completed, what the next steps would be and a review of the overall budget and timeline. Further, the consultation and guidance they provided was invaluable. They ALWAYS listened to and considered every one of our questions and comments (though foolish and uneducated at times) but also provided their own ideas and input to ensure that we didn’t go down the wrong path. Tabor even provided some assistance on how best to navigate the complex and confusing insurance claim process! Once completed, the quality of the work they delivered was PERFECT and it all came in on time and slightly under budget, allowing us to complete other small projects within the repair budget. We’ve been homeowners for twenty-five years and can’t recall any major home improvement project going so smoothly. The fact of the matter is that most homeowners don’t suffer home damage to the scale that we did. As such, this entire process was new to us but is something that Todd and Tabor do every single day. We found ourselves really leaning on Todd and Tabor to guide us through the project given their deep experience with these unfortunate situations. Simply put, we couldn’t have gotten through this without them. Thank you sincerely Todd and Tabor! We’ve already begun making our list of future projects for you to help us with! Home Building questions, answered by experts

A construction lien results from unpaid services. For instance, if a homeowner hires a contractor to do a large renovation on their home and then fails to pay for the services and materials, the contractor can take out a lien on the property. This lien is a legal claim against the property for the amount of money owed. If the homeowner does not pay their debt, the lien may stay on the title until the homeowner tries to sell and cannot do so until the title is cleared.

The steep slope of an A-frame roof withstands high winds, heavy rain, and heavy snowfall, making them popular all over the world. A-frames also offer simple, quick construction. Finally, an A-frame typically has large windows on the non-roof sides to let in a maximum amount of natural light. Consequently, they are often an affordable building solution for the right homeowner and location.

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.

The construction stage, which includes pouring the foundation, framing the structure or building the walls if you choose a concrete house, and installing doors, windows, a roof, siding, drywall, and flooring, will almost always take the longest. The planning phase can take just as long if you’re building a custom home, but the finishing process, which includes painting, installing trim, and finishing the interior, will rarely take longer than the previous two phases.

Whether it’s more affordable to gut a house than build a new one depends on the markets where you'd be buying and selling. However, it’s usually less expensive to renovate a home than to build new construction.

Most homeowners pay between $100,000 and $200,000 for demolition and remodeling costs, whereas the average cost to build a new home is between $139,000 and $531,300.
