"Joe McLennan accomplished my drywall plastering job within 4 hours. The room, a 10 × 10 space off the living room had a ceiling that was composed of tacked on ceiling tiles. Due to certain issues such as past leaky roof as well as the was addition pulling away from original house structure, the ceiling tiles had fallen off and the middle was convexed. I received 4 estimates with various prices. Joe was by far the best offer. He was on time and did a beautiful job within 4 hours. I couldn't be mre pleased. Robin McQueen, Beverly, MA."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You’ll want to inspect your plaster walls for signs of damage before painting. If you notice soft spots, deep cracks, bubbling, or areas where the plaster is crumbling or pulling away from the wall, it likely needs repair. While small hairline cracks are common and likely cosmetic, you should address larger issues before painting to ensure a quality, smooth finish.

When sanding drywall mud, you’re going to create a very fine dust that may contain silica. Silica dust contains crystalline silica, which can cause long-term illnesses for people who inhale it in significant quantities. Wear a mask while sanding drywall. Then dampen a drywall sponge to wipe the dust off the drywall, helping to reduce the amount of dust that may become airborne.

Yes, professionals often repair minor wall openings made for insulation injection to restore the surface.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

With its breathability and flexibility, lime plaster is among the most durable of all plaster types. It's also fire-resistant and has a proven track record, as people have been using it for thousands of years.

However, all plaster types will last for many years with the right care and treatment. Proper preparation and installation will also help ensure your plaster walls look great for as long as possible.
