"We are very satisfied with his work. He made sure that the property was cleaned up between sessions and used floor covers to avoid tracking project into the house. He made good suggestions and carried them out within the agreed upôn budget."

"This was our second time hiring Andre and would continue doing so for any future projects! This time around we had Andre and his team tear down our existing wood deck and build a new trex deck. He was very accommodating by making requested design changes last minute and provided valuable input. The deck went up faster than expected and is excellent quality."

Small jobs welcome

"Christian and his crew fixed our deck?s roof support issue quickly and at a reasonable price. He has great attention to detail and greatly improved our deck?s support after discovering and replacing some rotted wood and adding additional support to the deck. He greatly improved our deck?s appearance by suggesting we upgrade our railings and add finishing brackets to give the deck professional ?finished? look. The deck looks great!"

"I hired Bob to repair a door frame that was split, and he was fantastic. Bob was a clear communicator, came to the job prepared, and very friendly. He arrived on time, the quality of his work was excellent and fairly priced, and he finished the work faster than initially projected. Bob also went out of his way to do some additional touch-up paint work in the unit, and gave my girlfriend a small screwdriver for another repair in her apartment. I have no complaints, and will definitely use Pino Construction for any of my future repairs! I strongly suggest that you check with him for any of your future repair work too."

"I hired Teddy and his team a few months ago to demolish an existing deck that was rotting out and replace it with TimberTech Azek decking. As the pictures show they did an amazing job. Teddy and his team were very professional and responsive. In addition to great work they provided me with the best quote. I highly recommend Men Construction for your next home project."

"We hired Jr to repair our deck. He came very quickly to give us an estimate. He was very professional and honest about the work and what it would entail. He was in contact with us through the whole job. He repaired our decks with efficiency. We were so happy with the deck repairs we hired him to do a new wall for our driveway. Everything came out amazing. I will keep Jr's number and recommend him to anyone."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Deck skirting shouldn’t touch the ground, especially if you have a wood deck, which is vulnerable to moisture. Ideally, you should leave at least 3/4 of an inch of space between the deck skirting and the ground for more ventilation. Pros also recommend that you incorporate about 1 square foot of space for ventilation for the underside of the deck to every 150 square feet of decking. Proper ventilation prevents mold growth and rot that can damage your deck.

Composite decking might cost more upfront, but it delivers value in terms of durability. Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. The extra processes lead to a higher price tag, but you’ll save big in maintenance costs down the road.

Yes. Composite decking is resistant to moisture and freezing temperatures, so it’s an ideal material to use in particularly cold or damp seasons. You can install this type of decking throughout the year since it does not warp or split in the cold.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.

Building a deck isn't too hard if you’re handy with carpentry, have the necessary tools, and are willing to put effort into it. However, other factors, such as plans, permits, and design, can be hard if you don’t have experience in those areas.

Note: You’ll need another person to help you build the deck (especially for framing and setting the beams). Building a deck yourself will be very difficult if you don’t have an extra set of hands to help.
