Since you’ll be going back over an oil-based paint (stain or varnish), you need the proper material for good adhesion. The answer depends on the garage door itself. If your garage door is flat, a roller is the fastest and easiest way to paint it. A combination of brushes and rollers is best for garage doors with designs or textures. If you're hoping to save time by simply painting over your front door, we have bad news. This usually won’t give you the results that you want. You need to fully prep your door so that the paint adheres to the surface. If you don't sand and clean your door, you may find that you need to repaint your door sooner than you would if you had prepared the door properly in the first place.

You can paint concrete with paint rollers. In fact, using paint rollers is considered one of the easiest ways to evenly apply paint on concrete. A paint roller with a 1/2- to 3/4-inch-thick nap—which is basically a fabric paint roller cover—is best for painting concrete. The thicker the nap, the more paint it can hold to fill those pesky concrete cracks and crevices.

This largely depends on your environment and how well the paint was sealed. Properly sealed chalk paint furniture that isn’t regularly dinged by toys or steel boots can last 5 years or—often significantly—longer. However, if it isn’t sealed correctly or is subject to regular wear and tear, you can expect the coat to last 3 years or less.
