I am a general contractor and have been in business for 11 years. Extremely high-quality work. I got started in the business after I taught myself fine furniture making and cabinets. I never take shortcuts or skimp on materials. Efficient and careful in my work. I provide free estimates and can work odd hours if needed. I service Boston proper as well as inside of 495, happy to travel outside of the coverage area for the right job. Please don't hesitate to reach out!

Ive been a small business owner with 10+ yrs experience installing floors specialized in carpet & all vinyl materials. Also install all types of tile & wood. I believe in preparation for install is as important as the install itself. Replacing what needs be &/or going through proper procedure correctly to garunteed best install possible.

"Everything went well, however, he needs to come back and install a transition strip tomorrow. It wasn’t his fault the transition strip was not long enough. I thought I had the correct materials from Home Depot, however, to our surprise, it was too short. He worked very hard and got most of the job done in just one day."

Epoxy Flooring questions, answered by experts

These are two different questions. The most budget-friendly flooring option for a bathroom is waterproof luxury vinyl, but installing vinyl flooring is a fairly extensive DIY project best left to homeowners with a lot of confidence and experience. When you hire your local flooring company to do the hard work for you, you can focus on simply figuring out which type of floor will work best for your needs and stylistic preferences.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.

It depends on what’s important to you. For instance, if you’re looking for the lowest-priced carpet material, consider polyester. Alternatively, you could go with olefin (also known as polypropylene), another synthetic carpet material that costs about the same as polyester. Otherwise, if durability is the priority, nylon or wool would be a better choice.

Not sure what you need? A local carpet installer can explain the difference between various carpet types and help you decide what’s best for your home.

If you have a dark carpet and are going for a lighter look, you should replace it, rather than dyeing, since you can only go darker with dye. If your stains are too heavy to mask with carpet dye or the carpet is more than 10 years old, you should also consider replacing it.

If you’re doing a full bathroom remodel, the flooring will go in before the vanity and any other bathroom cabinetry. This will ensure that the same floor is present across your whole bathroom should you ever tear out your vanity and start again.

If you can only budget for one or the other, you can still replace just the vanity in your bathroom. Just keep in mind that if you decide to replace your flooring later, you’ll need to tear out the vanity to avoid having mismatched floors.
