"I hired this company for spring cleanup, and when they got here they were able to do so much more They edged all my beds. They mulched everything. They filled my new raised beds with loam. They cleaned my two ponds. They went way over and above what I expected, I would recommend them highly to anyone. They .were professional. They were courteous. They left nothing behind. It was absolutely the best experience I’ve had hiring someone in a long time. I couldn’t be happier. I would highly recommend them to anyone for any projects."

"Roberto and his team were great! They arrived quickly and removed multiple trees as agreed. They also did a nice job cleaning up the work site at the end of the day. We'd definitely hire them again!"

"We hired Jose to clear our driveway for the season and are very pleased after the first snow. He came twice to clear and everything was just as we asked when we got up on Sunday morning. We are happy to have such a responsive contractor."

"My husband and I hired Tom this past summer (August 2020) to remove our existing playset area and install a paver patio and retaining wall. Tom responded quickly to our initial inquiry and promptly met with us to go over our ideas and scope of work. In meeting with Tom, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Tom was up front about costs and material availability. He began work within a week of meeting and continually informed us of progress. Tom actively approached us with enhancements to our initial plan and brought examples of alternatives we could use for our project due to supply shortages from COVID-19. His team was friendly, professional, and quick in completing our rather large project. From start to finish, Tom and his team were able to complete our project within four days. Furthermore, when we realized a break in our irrigation line, caused by equipment used, and drainage issues, due to our patio being built into a slight incline, Tom was quick to respond and address the problems (at no cost). Ultimately, Tom was able to keep all costs within our budget. Tom and his team at DT Landscape do a fantastic job and we would recommend them to anyone. Tom is a professional businessman who stands behind all his work."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Snowblowers come in three different sizes: first-, second-, and third-stage blowers. Each additional stage is larger with higher intakes, more powerful, and has more gear options.

A first-stage blower, also called a snow thrower, is usually best for snow 6 to 8 inches or below. Electric snow blowers are usually only available in this size. If you regularly get snow that’s well above six inches, consider a second-stage snow blower. If snowstorms dump 2 to 3 feet of snow repeatedly during winter, you need a third-stage snow blower to tackle it.

The process to winterize your landscaping depends on the plants you have, but generally speaking, you should rake your lawn to avoid leaves from smothering your grass and leading to mold and fungi growth, wrap young trees to protect from fluctuating temperatures, and fertilize your lawn to provide some nutrients for the grass through the colder temperatures. You can also consider marking off small trees and shrubs to avoid accidentally damaging them with snow removal tools.

The average cost for a single snow removal service is around $85, but can range from $40 to $200. For excessive snowfall, the price could be $500 or more, as single services are often based on the amount of snow, with every six inches adding to the total. For ongoing service, an annual snow removal contract typically costs between $200 and $600 for the season. In many cases, an annual contract is more affordable than paying per visit. The final cost is heavily influenced by your location, the amount of snowfall your area receives, property size, seasonal demand, expected response time, and any extra services like clearing a sidewalk.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

Whether salt melts ice overnight will depend on how low the temperature drops. If temperatures stay around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you can count on salt melting ice overnight. Otherwise, the lower temperatures get, the less effective the salt is in melting ice, and the more likely you’ll wake up with a slippery driveway the next day.
