"I run a BnB and had a guest room toilet overflowing dirty water and unable to be plunged. We were fully booked and unable to relocate the guests. This was a serious emergency. I got Ryan's number from a friend, he answered right away and told me he'd be there in 40 minutes. 30 minutes later he showed up with a smile on his face and told me he would take it from there. Another 20 minutes went by and he showed me the plastic and glass that had been flushed and was blocking everything else. Price was very affordable. Problem was solved in under an hour!! That's unheard of on Cape Cod!!! Couldn't ask for better service !! Hire Him!"

"My only complaint about Kevin is that there is only one of him. I called on a Friday around 3PM with a leaking pipe that would eventually cause expensive damage to my family room. Kevin arrived in under 1 hour to assess the situation. He then made a 25 mile round trip to secure parts to complete an excellent repair. Kevin has been here before for other work and as always does a professional ,neat job leaving the job site neat and clean. I would highly recommend Kevin !!!!!!"

"KMD replaced our 50 year gas boiler and added an additional zone . From the first contact, the estimate, and installation KMD was on time, professional, skilled, and courteous. All the work was completed beyond my expectations while working with our schedules. They went the extra mile taking necessary protections during these difficult times of the virus. KMB is the company we will call for all of our plumbing needs and recommend to friends and neighbors. Thank you for a great job!!!!"

"At first I was nervous and afraid of the current status of my heater. My home was freezing and I had no hot water. Lewis came in with a smile and put my mind at ease. He explained everything that he was going to check for and went right in ( while keeping me in the loop) After his initial diagnosis he realized noticed that my heater had buildup and that this was the root to my heater issues. Lewis asked me for the okay to begin and after I gave him the green light, he went took care of all my troubles. He even gave me tips on small upkeep stuff that I can check for on a monthly timetable to prevent this from happening again to this extreme. Lewis is awesome and the fact that he follows up with his customers is also great. He has GREAT VIBES and is a HONEST plumber."

"The gals I worked with were really nice. They told me everything to expect and everything went exactly like they said it would. I paid exactly what they quoted me. I had no surprises - accept that it was exactly as promised! I never did expect to be as easy and smooth as it was."

Toilets questions, answered by experts

The cost of making a bathroom accessible can be $3,000 to $25,000, but you could spend as much as $50,000 building a brand-new ADA-compliant bathroom. Some bathroom accessibility upgrades to consider include:

  • Installing grab bars: $100–$500

  • Lowering cabinets and vanities: $1,200–$2,500

  • Installing modified doors: $700–$1,500

  • Installing a modified toilet: $400–$1,000

  • Installing an accessible sink and faucet: $100–$1,000

  • Adding a walk-in tub: $1,100–$17,000

  • Converting a bathtub into a walk-in tub: $350–$1,000

  • Installing a wheelchair-accessible shower: $2,000–$7,500

  • Installing a shower ramp: $16–$300

Emergency plumbers charge a significantly higher rate than for standard service, typically 1.5 to 3 times the normal hourly cost. You can expect to pay between $100 and $500 per hour, with an average of around $200 per hour. In addition to the higher hourly rate, many plumbers charge a flat emergency service or trip fee, which can be between $150 and $300. The final cost depends on the timing of the call; prices are highest for major holidays, followed by weekends and after-hours service on weekdays. For a complex job on a major holiday, a master plumber's rate could reach as high as $600 per hour.

Completing a full standard bathroom remodel offers the best value, with an average return on investment (ROI) of 70%. However, you don't need a full remodel to make an impact. To maximize value, focus on key components like flooring, the tub and shower, vanity, and cabinets. High-value upgrades include installing a walk-in shower, resurfacing a tub, retiling, or expanding the shower. For more budget-friendly options that still increase value, consider repainting with a light, neutral color, or updating the mirror and light fixtures. It's also crucial to address any necessary repairs, such as leaks, mold, or cracked tiles, as buyers will notice these issues. Avoid flashy upgrades like bathtub jets or steam showers, which don't add as much value.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.

On average, it costs between $150 and $300 to fix a toilet that’s leaking at the base, including supply charges. If the flange is intact, the cost is between $150 to $200. If the flange needs to be replaced, you can expect an extra $50 or so. The actual price will depend on the hourly rate your plumber charges.
