"very professional, punctual, and thorough installed an internal french drain system including demolition work and sump pump and backup sump pump with dehumidifier. Bulk of work done within 2 days, balance of work to be down when weather warms up and ground is soft enough to place drain outlet pipe and down spout extensions underground"

"Plumber came out within hours of calling and offered to install the faucet the same day. Install only took a few hours and he was wrapped up by early afternoon. Fast, efficient and friendly. Just what we needed after waiting over 2 weeks for the other guy to even call us back!"

If you want the best in the business to provide you with expertise, professionalism, and value when it comes to basement waterproofing, you only need to call one company - Pioneer Basement.

No - this is not a paid endorsement - Timothy Xavier just left my house after installing a replacement sump pump. He is extremely knowledgeable, efficient, and meticulous.

I have been dealing with Pioneer Basements for 10 years now and continue to be impressed with their honesty and solutions.

Don't waste your time or money going anywhere else - these guys are the best!

"Excellent service. I had a sump pump system put in 10 years ago by Rescon. Never had any problems with it, worked great. This weekend with all the rain the pump stopped working. I called there emergency line and a service technician called me back in less than an hour. They were at my house in less the 2 hours fixing my pump. They did charge me an emergency dispatch fee for the service call but I guess that s expected on a weekend. Overall it was excellent service and I am very happy I chose this company."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I cannot say enough about how wonderful Milltown was to work with.  At 2 AM on a Sunday morning, I discovered that the entire footprint of our 1,400 sqft basement was filled with 2.5 feet of water as a result of (we later found out) a broken water main in the street next to our home in Lowell Belvidere.  Folks, that's a lot of water.  We called Milltown and within a short time they were on site helping us figure out what to do. The boiler was completely destroyed, so they ordered and installed a new one, including properly venting everything (which had been kind of a mess anyway in our 115 year old home). They also ordered a part for the hot water heater and were able to repair that instead of having to replace it. The new boiler was onsite within a day and installed the following day. Because it was the middle of the winter and there was roughly 9 feet of snow on the ground, this was no easy task (think: digging out the bulkhead). They shut the water off and took care of all of the things that needed to be done for that so that we didn't have frozen/burst pipes anywhere (blowing everything out, prepping with antifreeze, etc.). The crew was friendly, respectful, creative and inventive with how to solve the problem of getting all of the water pumped out of the basement (which kept coming in until the city finally admitted there was a break in the street - massive backhoe and drilling ensued). Last but not least, Milltown was incredibly understanding about the immediate financial burden a disaster like this can put on a family. Extremely nice people, prompt, responsive, professional, flexible and made the whole experience less of a nightmare. Thank you, Milltown.  From now on, you are our plumbing and heating contractor! :)

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.

The life span of a water pump ranges from five to 15 years on average. Regular maintenance can extend its life. If you notice significant drops in performance, strange noises, or frequent malfunctions, consider a water pump or well pump replacement. Always get in touch with a professional if you're concerned about yCan I install a water pump myself?our pump's condition.

Submersible and pedestal sump pumps are two popular types of sump pumps. Submersible models are covered by water in a sump pit, which helps keep the motor cooler and quieter. Pedestal sump pumps stick out of the sump pit, so the motor stays dry and is easier to access. Submersible sump pumps are the pricier option, but they also have longer life spans.

Common problems include motor failure, clogged discharge lines, and float switch malfunctions. Regular maintenance prevents many issues.

Thankfully, you do have a few sump pump backup options in case it fails. One option is a battery-powered backup sump pump. Another option is using a portable backup generator as a power supply for your sump pump. Unlike a battery-powered backup which has limited power, a generator can run around the clock for as long as you need it.

Or you can opt for a water-powered backup pump, which uses your home’s water supply as a source of power. However, this may not be the best option if you find your house frequently has low water pressure.
