"Vista has come to our house, especially a particular gentleman. Really knowledgeable, very professional. They do several different things. I have had them out to do estimates on gutters. We have not hired them for anything. To give you an idea, when they've come out I was very happy to open the door and see it was the same guy that has come several times to do several things. I interview several people. Not only did he come, and it's a little confusing to me because it has to do with ventilation and insulation, and excuse my language but there is a whole freaking science to this thing, but the owner actually came out. Not only did they keep in communication by computer, the owner actually came out and reinforced the whole education and what needs to be done. I was really thrilled with that. I thought that was beyond the call of duty. I am sorry I was not able to go with them, but I would certainly say as far as customer service relationship, excellent. The information was excellent. Not bothered by the fact that he had to come out more than one time for the same kind of information. I've never had the opportunity to hire them. But I've never been disappointed. They will take the time, they will talk to you, they will educate you, and they will actually give you the best price they can possibly give you. I got educated so that when my  husband came home I could explain to him what is going on. I can't rate their work, but as far as their generosity of time and caring, it's off the charts. I don't know about price because this is a whole new area to me. They were amazing. I have to tell you I have had them out several times as I said, it's Vista Home Improvements so they do several things, but I feel kind of bad that I am yet to hire them. I am trying to think exactly where Vista is out of, but for the owner to com about to your house. We're talking about a wrap around attic. We are talking about getting on your hands and knees and crawling around."

"
We wanted to have a pool house (cabana) built prior to the start of the summer.  We explained to Ray what we wanted, 16x24 cabana, electric, cable, cabinets, flooring, ceiling fan, running hot/cold water, outdoor lighting, and aesthetically pleasing as possible (to match the house and pool area).  Ray gave us a quote and told us when he could start the job and approximately how long it would take.  Ray worked with us to design the cabana and to pick out the items (cabinets, windows, slider door, fan, appliances, etc).  Ray completed the job ahead of schedule.  The cabana looks great and we get compliments on it all the time.  It's a great place to entertain, prepare and eat a meal, or just kick back and relax when you need some relief from the heat,"

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

"Augustine and his crew provided exceptional, quality work for a number of different projects, as we have begun a comprehensive "make over" of our family home. Their work focused on exterior projects, including removing and replacing the back deck, with a brand new handcrafted deck, using high quality lumber, crafted to be a natural fit with the house and with the natural landscaping. The work also included a complete removal and replacement of the exterior cedar shingles, which had not been replaced since the house was built more than 40 years ago; during the course of their work, the crew identified multiple places where a combination of either termite damage, woodpeckers or other wood rot had damaged the wood beneath the shingles; after consultation and recommendation we decided on additional rot-remediation strategies, including some small 'rebuilding' projects at specific sections. In addition, all of the windows were replaced, and the back slider door (onto the deck) was also replaced. The additional focus was to upgrade the energy efficiency of the house as a whole - the choices of materials, the incorporation of new insulation (which had not been installed when the house was first built, as its initial intended use was for summertime purposes only) and the detailed efforts to restore the integrity of the exterior, have all added up to a house that looks and 'feels' like brand new. The sum total of this work is a house that has been modernized and updated in a way that will last another 40 years! Needless to say we are so thrilled with the results of this work. And I can't say enough about the professionalism and responsiveness of this team, and Augustine's attention to the details of this work, but also his efforts to understand our needs (and financial limitations) and yet to help identify ways to both address our situation but also capitalize on opportunities to repair or restore the house in ways to meet our goals."

"I had a leaking roof that could not be put off. Since we were having a family party in less than a week, other places told me I'd have to wait till next week. No thank you! Jim Barry, the gentleman I worked with last time came to my rescue. The crew came out the next day and the work was completed in 3 days. And they accepted a credit card! The party was fun, and our heads were dry thanks to Top Notch yet again!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Installing new insulation in a home is worthwhile if your existing insulation is old and has lost some of its insulative capability or if you don’t have insulation installed already. Installing new insulation will boost your home’s energy efficiency, which can reduce your heating and cooling bills and save money on HVAC repair and maintenance in the long run. New insulation also keeps your living space more comfortable, so you and your family will benefit from the work as well. Finally, installing new insulation boosts your home value, making it especially worthwhile if you plan to sell.

It improves energy efficiency, reduces noise, enhances indoor comfort, and prevents drafts by filling wall cavities.

Yes, eco-friendly blown-in insulation options include materials made from recycled cellulose or wool. These offer excellent thermal performance and sustainability, reducing energy consumption and environmental impact while enhancing home efficiency.

Mold can grow on garage ceiling insulation, which is why it’s important to install a vapor barrier behind the insulation and keep the space cooled and heated as you would your living area. Doing so will more or less eliminate the risk of mold growing on your garage ceiling insulation. You can also install a self-draining dehumidifier to help remove moisture, or opt for a foam board insulation or spray foam insulation that won’t harbor moisture and mold.

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.
