RemodelWerks is a premier 3D design, custom building and remodeling firm specializing in all aspects of interior and exterior design and remodeling on residential and commercial and projects. RemodelWerks provides exceptional customer service and a superior three-year guarantee on all of their work.

"Terrible experience. Almost textbook bait and switch, rude as well. We needed our basement remodeled. Joe was one of several contractors we asked to provide an estimate. After visiting the basement, taking measurements, asking questions etc., Joe gave an initial estimate of $135-145K. Not cheap but seemed reasonable. The catch? Joe requires you to pay $9K up front, for the "Design Phase". Should have walked away at that stage...but when we ask what if the quote suddenly gets jacked up, Joe promises this never happens, since they are very experienced, unless customers ask for very specific/expensive selections or added features. Fast forward 6 weeks later: Joe serves us a new estimate, which is a whopping 186K + extra 13.5K for some extras. This is not a typo, $46K or 33% above midpoint of initial estimate. We try to work with Joe but bringing down cost within budget appears to be impossible...other than making DRASTIC cust (removing bathroom, kitchen etc). Adding insult to injury, we ask Joe to refund us whole or partial amount of the 9K due to a very poor estimate....which he refuses. Left 9K poorer, with basement drawings we cannot use, and to top it all rude comments from RemodelWerks. Stay away and saves yourself money, time and headaches. Unless you are just looking for design services and 3D drawings, perhaps."

Here at Mackenzie Inc. we take great pride in our customer service, and job completion results. We work together with our customer to come up with a plan & estimate, then begin work and depending on how involved the customer would like to be we schedule meetings to update and go over what progress is being made. We have a woman on our crew who's a licensed mold/asbestos/lead inspector/mitigation specialist which gives us a huge advantage in keeping homes safe, we have a carpenter/ carpet cleaning specialist with top of the line equipment to get the carpets clean not just on the surface but all the way through, we have a electrical specialist and former roofer, and we work close with a special testing lab to make sure that our customers home is safe from mold and all other hazardous materials. We have two crews who are lead by our top workers and usually have 3-4 men on each crew. We also deal with sub-contracting a job if it is to overwhelming or emergency situation, and in that case I personally am the Operations Manager and oversee all work done by sub. workers. We try to keep the price down as much as possible on any job, and we always sit down to go over an estimate in which depending on the circumstances if there is a promotion or a few different jobs being done we can offer a discount or see what financial options our customer might need. We are loyal to our customers and in return we get the same, around 85% of our customer's call us to do additional work. If you need work done, and you want it done right don't wait or risk another botched job. Call Mackenzie Inc. We come to your home and we are polite, presentable and professional. No job is to small, for FREE ESTIMATES call our Operations Supervisor Frank Mackenzie @ 781 281 4798

Architects questions, answered by experts

With proper training and experience, reading blueprints is fairly straightforward and not very difficult. If you don’t have the necessary knowledge to interpret the symbols, abbreviations, and other notations used, blueprints may not make sense. Learning to read blueprints can help you understand the construction process and keep you more involved and informed when you’re building a house.

Regular meetings, reviewing drafts, and providing input on materials help align the project with your vision.

Structural engineers draw structural plans, which include detailed drawings of the structural components of a home only. Complete house plans will require additional work from an architect or draftsperson, whose drawings will take the structural drawings into account. They’ll also include more details about the finishing materials and layout of a home, including everything from roofing and flooring materials to the position of furniture, light fixtures, switches, and plumbing fixtures.

Greek Revival architecture was popularized in America in the early- to mid-1800s, around the time when archaeologists were discovering buried ancient Greek buildings. As a means of celebrating the democratic government in ancient Greece, American architects borrowed from those newly discovered buildings as a way to emphasize that America would remain a democratic country in the wake of the American Revolution.

On average, the cost to hire an architect is between $2,200 and $10,500. Hourly rates for professional architects range from $45 to $250 per hour, depending on the architect’s experience level and location.

The cost for architect services vary depending on several factors, including:

  • Location

  • Project type

  • Experience level of the architect

  • Local demand for the architect’s services

  • Overall cost of the project
