Customers say: Quick response

"Joel did a great job turning some raw undeveloped land into a beautiful up hill driveway. The job involved rebuilding a stone wall, tree stump excavation, sculpting over 250 yards of soils into gentle slopes and finishing the job by spreading gravel for the new driveway. Joel is a master at working an excavator and has excellent work ethics. I am looking forward to having him back to do the next round of work on my property."

"Marc went above and beyond when installing a yard drainage system in our side yard. He was quick to give us a competitive quote, easy to work with, and got a complicated job done fast. I would highly recommend him for homeowners looking to modify the slope and or drainage plan for their plot."

"We had a wonderful experience working with DiVerdi Site Solutions. Our property had a very wooded and uneven side and back yard that felt unusable, and we weren’t sure where to begin. Rob was incredibly helpful from the start—he took the time to walk the property with us, explain what was possible, and help us identify the best way to accomplish our goals. He communicated clearly throughout the entire process and made sure every step was followed through exactly as planned. The transformation has been amazing. Rob cleared and excavated the heavily wooded side yard and turned it into a safe, open, and usable space where our kids can play. He also leveled off the back yard, which is now functional and enjoyable instead of sloped and difficult to use. Rob was professional, efficient, and respectful of our property. The quality of his work exceeded our expectations, and the end result has made a huge difference in how we use and enjoy our yard. I would highly recommend!"

"Rafael and his crew did an outstanding job getting our yard ready for the winter. The yard is spotless, they trimmed plants, even cut grass that we hadn’t asked them to do. Fast, very efficient, and good people to work with."

"This fall we replaced our house foundation. Amazonia Landscape did the excavation work and coordinated the concrete work. We had several home improvement projects but Amazonia Landscape was the only contractor who started the project on time. The team finished the work quickly regardless of difficulties. One day there was a shower all day. I thought Andre will not come, but when I got home at 6:30 pm, the excavation was almost done (the team were still working in rain). Some of the digging work was under existing house which was temporarily supported by lally columns. The team did a careful job in this dangerous area and didn't cause any damage our house. Andre always responded to our requests. He brought a pump to remove the water under the ground. I said the pump was not quiet enough. The next day he bought a new electric pump that doesn't produce any noise. He also gave me a big discount for the additional work (demolition, disposal, and house reinforcement) that was not included in the original contract. I would highly recommend Amazonia Landscape because of their hard work, professionalism, and timely response to customer's requests."

"The best money we've spent on our home outside - went from overgrown & overwhelming - to a magazine cover. A true transformation. I now understand all the 5star reviews - he works all jobs himself, w/ a little help from immediate family (no crew). He loves what he does, takes the time to do things right, listens / checks-in to be sure we are happy with decisions along the way. I went with every suggestion made. Eventually, I gave full reign with a 'surprise me' response to his suggestions :-). I would trust him to do any landscaping job. Would recommend to my mother! I now LOVE pulling into our driveway now - looks stunning!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

Some two-in-one tools and machines do both jobs, and those could be the right solution for smaller residential projects. However, the phrase “use the right tool for the job” definitely applies to digging. For the best results, get two separate tools for your trenching and landscape edging projects or call a pro to take care of everything for you.

Yes, you can excavate in the winter, but it might make the job harder. Frozen ground is harder to dig, and snow or ice can make the work site more hazardous. A contractor may need special equipment and techniques, such as ground-thawing methods, to break through frozen soil. Although winter excavation is possible, it may take longer and be more costly than excavating during warmer months.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.
