Jay came out to do the estimate and took the time to really understand what we were trying to achieve and provided some helpful suggestions. His father Dennis did the actual work with the excavator and bullodozer. Over the course of three days, they completely transformed the back yard. Not only did they do what we asked, but they were able to use all the boulders to create natural retaining walls which were amazingly built up, solidly and safely, with no additional cost. This also allowed the land to be leveled better than we had hoped. They were also able to bury the stumps, eliminating any disposal costs. What we were most impressed with was their ability to see potential that we coudln't see; in one case they dug out an alcove in the granite bedrock that had been buried and made a very beautiful, visually interesting element to our back yard. They consulted us throughout the process, asking questions and taking feedback based on our desires. I was really impressed by their finesse with what was a very challenging lot, and turned out beautifully -- we get compliments from anyone who visits. Importantly, their integrity was also clear throughout the process; these are guys who take their values seriously and were extremely honest, respectful, and kind. They even took our toddlers into the excavator to give them a chance to operate the "digger" which of course they thought was thrilling. I would absolutely use them again, especially if you want someone who can do more than just heavy digging, someone who has a real eye for shaping the land to making it look good. We are planning on hiring them again in the future for some additional work!
