Small jobs welcome

"Joseph Sweeney did an excellent job repairing three doors in my home. One of the doors was completely off the hinges, and the other two needed new doorknobs and adjustments so they would open and close properly. He got all three doors working perfectly again, was professional, efficient, and made sure everything was done right. I?m very happy with the work and would definitely recommend Joseph to anyone who needs handyman or door repair work. 5 stars!"

"Harmony Home Theater was excellent in every way! Very professional and knowledgeable. He took as much time as necessary to do the job right and be sure all my questions were answered. I would highly recommend his services with no reservations. I had others look at my project previously but only Mr. Gomes was willing and able to do what I wanted."

"I hired Raphi to mount the TV and set everything up (Wi-Fi, TV, and subwoofer). The job ended up taking longer than expected, which increased the cost, but Raphi was very committed to making sure everything was done properly. When a few details weren’t quite right, he returned the next day and fixed everything without hesitation. Overall, Raphi is knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated—I would gladly hire him again."

"The computer technician, Tammy, was excellent.  He arrived on time and was very personable.  Our computer is several years old and has been running slow, so he cleaned it up for us.  He tried to show us how to perform some maintenance tasks on our own.
After he was finished, he had to call in to the main Geek Choice number to settle the bill.  When I spoke with the person on the phone from Geek Choice, I was astonished when they told me the bill was for $300, which included 2.5 hours service at $100 per hour and a $50 fee for home visit.  I informed her that I had ordered the first hour through Angie's List for $75 and that the home visit fee was waived.  She retrieved my information and charged me a balance of $135, to include the reduced hourly fee of $90 per hour.  So Angie's List saved me almost $100, which I totally appreciate.
I give the technician high marks but the company, Geek Choice, seems like just another corporation trying to make more money off the consumer than they should.  I'm glad I went through Angie's List.

"Very happy with this installer. He did an awesome job. Very friendly, responsive company. Answered all my questions. My wires were hidden and he connected my soundbar. He also offered suggestions on adding on to my system in the future if I decide to add rear speakers to get more out of what we have. Seemed really knowlegeable on what would work best for our space. I will confidently use this installer in the future."

Stereo and Home Theater Systems FAQs, answered by experts

Installing surround sound costs about $750 on average, ranging from $240 to $1,250, depending on the type of surround sound, number of rooms, wired or wireless, mounted or integrated speakers, and location. Full-room surround sound typically costs about $700 per room, but in-ceiling speakers only cost about $200 to $500 per pair. Consult your home theater design professional to determine the best surround sound solution for your project.

You can customize your home theater with a wide range of features, but the minimum components include a display (like a TV or projector), a sound system, and comfortable seating. Your total cost will vary depending on the components, brands, and features you choose. Common elements and their approximate costs include: 4K 50-inch to 60-inch TV: $800–$1,500; 60-inch TV and bracket: $900; Amplifier: $250; Five box speakers and subwoofer: $500; High-end front projector: $10,000–$60,000; Home theater screen: $250–$1,500; Low-end front projector: $1,500; Surge protection: $25 and up; Three HDMI cables: $30; Universal remote: $20–$200; Wiring and circuit board: $400–$2,700.

The biggest and best home theaters are 24 by 15 feet, but in smaller spaces you can make do with 15 by 20 feet, 10 by 12 feet or even smaller. You should aim for a ceiling height of about 9 feet. Remember, the size of your theater will affect layout, projector placement, screen size and other factors.

Essential components include a surround sound receiver, speakers (front, center, satellite), a subwoofer, and the necessary cables/wires. These elements work together to create an immersive audio experience.

The shorter the coaxial cable, the better. The further you run the cable, the more signal loss you'll experience. At 50 feet, you'll see significant signal loss, and by 100 feet, you'll experience at least a 30% drop in signal strength.
