"Once again, Ranieri Construction has gone above and beyond our expectations! We needed to have our inground pool patched and painted, and may I say Andrew (and Lou) did an outstanding job. My husband usually spends time (and $) at the beginning of the season making sure the water stays clean and clear. But patching up all the spots, and then painting the entire pool ensured the pool was so much easier to clean and keep clear on day 1. The improvements also made it easier to maintain the water balance and keep clean. Please consider these folks- they are prompt, detail oriented and very efficient. Feel free to get in touch with us if you want to hear more"

"We are very pleased with our new tile flooring, Wellington was responsive and very nice to work with, he showed up when promised and finished the job in a timely manner. He even went above and beyond and helped out with some basement remodeling/carpentry. We would hire him and his team again!"

"I had purchased 2 hours of electrical work. Since they sent two men, it meant an hour of two people.  I had some additional work done and paid for the extra time.  The biggest task was putting a new light in the living room ceiling: it required drilling holes in the bracket from which the light hangs.  The other work was much smaller, chiefly replacing outlets.  I honestly don't remember all the details.  The did install an extra outlet in my basement and remove wiring from a now-removed hot-water heater.  They were perfectly good and competent, but I'd rather use someone closer to my house: they're at least an hour away.

"Joe was fantastic. We bought a new lantern+post for front yard but installing it wasn't cut and dried because the old lamp post was shorter so the wiring had to be extended, and the previous post was only in the ground 1 foot deep while the new one, since taller/larger, needed to be 3 feet down. We also wanted a junction box/outlet mounted on the base of the post for holiday lights. We were in a hurry because of company coming...and were about to be out of town for a week making our window even smaller. Joe called me back the day I called him. Over the phone I explained what we needed, sent him pix from my phone of the lantern, post, install kit, etc. He told me about how much it would be. Told me to go on vacation, leave the post etc on our back stoop, the inside switch to that circuit off, and when we arrived home, it would be up and running. And it was! Straight and sturdy and he even painted it to match the trim on our house w/o me asking for that! The day after we got home we realized we wanted the old broken timer to work and a different switch inside so I called. He and his co-worker were here that day and the work was done by 3 PM. That also wasn't simple because the circuit it was on had not been done properly in a previous DIY project so that was re-wired. His willingness to fit us in between bigger jobs was super helpful. The work was done well and for a very reasonable price based on other work we've had done. He's our guy now! Thanks, Joe and Mike."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

Yes, pool pumps use a significant amount of electricity, making them one of the biggest energy consumers in a home. A pool pump can use up to three times as much electricity as a refrigerator. Typically, a residential pool pump consumes about 1 kilowatt-hour (kWh) for every hour it runs. Because pumps often need to run for about eight hours a day to properly filter the water, this can add up to an annual consumption of 3,000 to 5,000 kWh, which can cost between $480 and $800 per year based on average electricity rates.

The amount of electricity your pump uses depends on its size, energy efficiency, and daily run time. To lower your energy consumption, you can choose an energy-efficient or variable-speed pump, ensure it is correctly sized for your pool, and run it only for the minimum time required to keep the water clean.

Yes, it’s possible to put too much salt in your saltwater pool, and doing so can cause a number of problems, including corroding metal parts and causing the chlorinator to stop working correctly. In general, slightly elevated salt levels won’t cause serious problems beyond salty-tasting water, but you should dilute the water in a pool with extremely high salt levels to prevent damage to its components.

You should add chlorine within 48 hours of filling your pool with water. In just 24 hours, bacteria and algae will begin to grow and contaminate your water. After that point, you’ll need to shock the water with high levels of chlorine, and you’ll likely need to do additional vacuuming to get the pool clean. It’s important to check your chlorine levels two to three times a week and add more chlorine as needed to maintain a healthy level.

Yes, zero-entry pools are also referred to as beach-entry pools because the gentle slope leading to the water mimics the natural slope of a sandy shore leading to a lake or ocean. You can bring in sand or pebbles to truly capture the beach-like feel of a zero-entry pool.

Yes, it’s possible to DIY a plunge pool and shave labor costs off of the project total. If you’re considering a DIY build, keep in mind that you will be responsible for pool installation and landscaping (which may require excavation). This type of DIY project is best left to particularly handy homeowners who have prior pool installation experience.
