"Richard, the owner, came to give us an estimate to finish the flooring we had started installing ourselves.  He measured every room, discussed any areas we were concerned about, and gave us an estimate before he left our home.  In his estimate, all materials included, or not included were stated clearly.  He was professional and punctual.  His work crew was able to start when they said they would start.  They worked a full day each day.  Able's office manager called every day to see if we were satisfied with the day's work, and if we had any concerns.  Richard came over once during the installation, and then came after the installation was completely finished.  He was professional, precise, and his crew was courteous.  I would recommend them and use them again."

"It was pretty good. The best part was that they were willing to work with me on a rather expeditious basis.  They always answered the phone and were always willing to come in and help. When I had an issue following the installation they came out and took care of it. I guess there were some things they could have done better but I was satisfied. I would recommend them for their timeliness. I called and tried to get quotes from probably half-dozen contractors and Nolascapes is one of the two that called me back."

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

The best time to schedule an annual pool inspection is early or late spring, before the busy summer season. Your inspector can identify urgent issues so you can address them before using the pool. If your region is warm year-round, schedule an inspection before you start swimming regularly.

Your indoor pool can be heated or unheated, but the decision depends on your local climate. In regions with freezing temperatures, heating your pool will keep it warm during the winter, especially if it’s only covered with a greenhouse enclosure.

If you keep your swimming water warm and toasty, budget between $300 and $5,700 for the cost of installing a pool heater.

Home inspectors only check swimming pools if they have expertise in that area. During a standard home inspection, they focus on the house’s structure, roof, foundation, electrical, plumbing, and other components. If they examine your pool, they’ll check the pump and heater. If you want a thorough pool inspection, hire a pool inspection specialist.

The total time to install an inground pool typically ranges from 8 weeks to 4 months. This timeline can be influenced by several factors, including permitting, site preparation, and the construction process itself.

Key phases and their typical durations include:

  • Permits: Obtaining necessary permits can take anywhere from two to six weeks.

  • Excavation and Site Preparation: This phase takes about a week but can be extended by problematic soil, unexpected ground conditions, or the need to move underground utility lines.

  • Construction: The actual build, including plumbing and electrical work, often takes one to two months. The pool material is a major factor here; a concrete pool needs about 30 days to cure, while installing a fiberglass or vinyl liner is much faster.

External factors can also cause significant delays:

  • Contractor Availability: Spring and summer are busy seasons, and high demand can lead to long waitlists, potentially adding months to your start date. It is often recommended to start planning and getting estimates up to a year in advance.

  • Other Delays: Weather, material shortages, complex designs, and other unforeseen challenges can extend the project timeline.

For maximum effectiveness, you should keep your solar pool cover on whenever your pool isn’t in use. Covering the pool during the day allows the solar cover to use the sun’s rays to heat your pool, prevent evaporation and heat loss, and protect your pool from debris.
