"Scheduling went well and they did everything they said they were going to do. They gave us an evaluation and report after the inspection. However, we have never used the fireplace so we are not sure if what they did was effective. But, they did not leave any mess behind and they were professional."

"Once I had bought the deal on Angie's List, I received instructions via email to call Frontpoint directly to set it up. I called and spoke to Oscar, and the process was very smooth.  The email contained some order codes that let Oscar know exactly what I had purchased, and setup was quick from there.  He ran a credit check to confirm eligibility (it's a 3-yr contract), then had me set my intial PIN, Safety words, address, and credit card for billing.  That was it.
It took 2 days to assemble my hardware package, and 2 more days for it to arrive.  The sensors, control panel, and manuals came assembled in a really nice flip-top display box.  Everything was numbered in order, like "do this first," etc.  The sensors were all numbered for easy reference.  All batteries were included.   It was really slick.
Setup of the hardware took about a half-hour; I was easily able to do it myself.  The sensors are peel-and-stick; deciding which doors and windows to target took longer than the actual installation.  The fire/smoke alarm is peel-and-stick.  The motion sensor is sitting right on our fireplace mantel.  I hung the control panel using included screws.  Everything is wireless; once the system was turned on, all the sensors were automatically detected.  Did I mention how slick it is?
I called Frontpoint at 10pm, just as they were clothing, and the assiciate was nonetheless very polite.  Activation took minutes.  He walked me through different methods of arming and disarming, and could see my system was responding correctly.  He gave me a 2hr delay in police activation so I could get used to the system without accidentally tripping it.  He even gave me the rest of the month (~5 days) free, and said billing would start at the first of the next month!  I checked my bill, and it's legit.  Again, very slick.
Once it was up and running, I got an email to set up my online account.  The website, contracted through alarm.com, is really nice. You can custom-name your sensors, set up email/text alerts, create additional users/PINs ... really nice.  I downloaded the App for Android, and it's also very nice.  You can arm/disarm and see the recent sensor history.  This, combined with the wireless setup, is WAY MORE than any of my friends have through ADT, Broadview, etc.  My system is the belle of the ball, at lower cost ($99 equipment, no setup fee, $42/mo, killer web functionality, DIY expansion).
So far, the first month has been great.  We left town for a week right after installing it, and gave someone one of the keyfobs so they could check on the house, and their own User PIN for emergencies (which we can deactivate any time).  They had no problems, and the alerts let us know exactly when they came and went (the keyfobs are labeled in the alerts).   The piece of mind is PRICELESS.  I'm glad we set this up before an incident, instead of after.
I hear that additional Z-wave sensors are very easy to add, and available through third parties as well as Frontpoint.  Additional window sensors, water leak sensors, pipe freeze sensors, you name it.  Even home-automation sensors, which can be controlled via the web and phone apps!  I look forward to getting some and trying them out.
Great job (so far) Frontpoint!

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

A routine chimney sweep and inspection takes one to three hours. Gas tune-ups require one to two hours, while replacing a chimney cap takes two to four hours. Extensive fireplace service, such as firebox repointing or full chimney relining, takes one to three days. In Slidell, high humidity requires extended drying times for mortar repairs.

Helpful?

You have several options for fireplace service in Slidell. Certified chimney sweeps handle moisture damage and creosote buildup. HVAC contractors and plumbers manage gas log inserts and gas lines. Masonry professionals repair fireboxes and storm-damaged brickwork. Electricians install electric inserts and wiring. Because of the humid climate, local experts focus heavily on preventing moisture-related deterioration.

Helpful?

Inspect your chimney cap and crown for storm damage in late summer. Book a professional sweep and gas component check in October before the short LA heating season begins. Monitor for moisture intrusion during winter rains. In spring, clean out ash residue to prevent moisture-activated corrosion inside the firebox during the long, humid off-season.

Helpful?

Schedule your fireplace service between August and October to avoid the late-fall rush. Check your property for hurricane or storm damage, and document any issues before booking routine work. Always verify that your professional holds proper credentials in LA. Finally, account for high humidity, as chimney interiors require extra drying time before relining work begins.

Helpful?

Hire certified specialists with extensive experience handling hurricane and flood damage. Professionals familiar with St. Tammany Parish understand the specific failure patterns caused by local storms and water infiltration. Confirm your contractor carries insurance that covers storm-adjacent damage. Request local references to ensure they understand the unique soil and moisture conditions affecting fireplace service in Slidell.
