"The work I got for the value was great. Other contractors wanted to charge $750 or more for this small repair I needed. These guys only charge what they think is fair for the amount and type of labor they do. I paid less than half what everyone else was going to charge me. I highly recommend them to anyone."

"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"How good is Ed Chachere?  It's hard to put in words the detail and meticulous nature of Ed and Elijah.  Their work is as close to perfection as possible in a restoration of a home where lumber was cut to a different specification than you find today.  They have repaired walls, floors, renovated bathrooms, resolved problems with old construction, and are in the final process of bringing the home back to it's original glory.  Ed is proficient at working with other contractors and has been invaluable in his ability to coordinate efforts.  Needless to say, not only has Ed done a fabulous job on the home's interior, but he has also saved our sanity during the process.  Interior of the home is near completion and we are starting on outside."

"The Sheetrock repair and the extended wall space was done very well and I am super pleased with the result.  However,we were a little disappointed with the end result of the closets.  Originally we were quoted for a more extensive closet reconfiguration, but due to our budget we decided to extend our wall and to have David reposition our hanging bars and to add some simple shelving in our small walk-in and a bathroom closet.  I am happy with the configuration and all measurements are accurate.  Most of the materials used for the project were reused shelving and poles from the closets which is perfectly fine, but after closer inspection we were disappointed with the quality of plywood that was purchased for the project.   The wood that existed before is a higher quality and more finished look than what was added. We are going to add some dental molding to help everything look more finished.  Also, when I began painting the closet space I also realized that caulking was done only in a few areas and the pin nail holes were not covered.  I did this myself before painting.

To be fair, I did tell David that I was pleased with everything before he left, but I did not inspect as close as I should.  I just assumed that this job would have the same quality that the first job he performed for us. Because I needed to get the closets finished and painted over that weekend, we did not contact David to talk to him about our concerns.   We did change the original plan for the closet estimate and did negotiate a price that would fit in our budget.  However, I did not realize that I would not get the same finished look that I got from the Sheetrock repair and closet removal project that he had performed before.  He did not need to purchase a lot of materials for this project so I am not sure why the quality was not there.

Overall, his work is great and in the future we will be more clear about our expectations.  This job took 3 days and he finished on time."

Closets questions, answered by experts

When storing your clothes long-term, first consider the container's breathability. While plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or vacuum sealing may be great options for short-term storage, they won’t help your clothes hold up in the long term. Breathable plastic boxes and fabric bags help with airflow, prevent mold or mildew from building up, and allow proper airflow.

Building custom cabinets or built-in furniture yourself is possible, especially for basic designs, if you have woodworking experience. For a professional result, hiring a service is recommended to ensure precision, high-quality craftsmanship, and superior finishes.

Some features and upgrades you can add (some of which increase the closet’s value) are: modular shelving, motion-activated lighting, climate control, custom lighting, cigar humidors, revolving shoe racks, jewelry shelves, custom woodwork, and built-in laundry hampers. While only truly luxury closets have all of these, many custom closets have at least one special feature listed above.

Since they are so fragile, it is not usually recommended to stack anything on top of your packed lamps. If you have sturdy boxes, and what you plan to put on top of them is of a similar weight, it’s okay to stack.

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.
