"Outstanding ! Kevin has painted 4 rooms; repaired and replaced many items inside and outside the house; he is now remodeling my kitchen including tile, lighting fixtures and more. There is nothing he cannot do in my experience. He is very professional and so is his crew - their work is excellent - Kevin is always on time and if a situation does arise he always calls me. I also feel that he is an honest gentleman and I have felt very comfortable leaving the house to run errands. His pricing is very fair and I WILL be using him for anything in the future."

"We had a great experience with Allstate windows. Steve came out and met with us about the upgrades we wanted to do with our windows and siding. Steve answered all of our questions concerning the job. He was very knowledgeable in the products he was offering which made us feel comfortable, we received our quote by the next day decided to go with Allstate windows. The windows came in earlier than expected and the installation process was done in a timely matter by his crew. When the job was done they cleaned everything up and left the area very clean. Skylights questions, answered by experts

There are four main types of lighting used in homes: ambient, task, accent, and decorative. Within these categories, there are a number of fixtures to choose from including ceiling-mounted lights, floor lamps, under-cabinet lights, track lighting, and more.

Choosing the fixture that’s right for you depends on your home design and the area you’re looking to illuminate.

Fixed skylights are by far the most popular type. Because skylights can be pretty high up on your ceiling, fixed (rather than operable) skylights remove some maintenance from the equation. Plus, you don’t have to constantly worry if you shut your skylight fully the last time you opened it or if you’re going to find a leak later on during a rainy day.

Yes, solar tubes work during the winter as long as it’s light outside and they aren’t covered by snow. Sun tunnels are made to work year-round to bring in natural light, and some people find them even more beneficial during the winter. With less daylight outside, it can be even more important to bring brightness into homes to reduce electricity costs.

The decision to remove a skylight depends on your specific circumstances and preferences. There are several reasons why you might consider removing a skylight, such as extensive damage, a desire for better insulation, or the need to change the room's layout. Additionally, if the skylight is causing leaks or other issues, it may be necessary to remove and replace it (which can incur additional skylight installation costs). It's important to assess your specific situation and consult with professionals if needed to make an informed decision.

When planning out skylights and deciding how big they should be, it's important to look at the dimensions of the interior space. In addition to changing a room aesthetically, skylights influence the illumination and temperature of the space below. The U.S. Department of Energy recommends that a skylight’s size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows.
