"We found John and his crew of 2 to be professional. Remember when hiring a tree service for an estimate, to state all you want done. We had 3 trees removed. One tree died from the heat and was the reason we needed a tree service. We live on a little less than an acre corner lot in a subdivision. Another tree on our lot that we had removed was on our property line that had some large branches that hung over our neighbor's house. It needed to go. There was no damage or mess on neighbor's property during and after the tree removal. The third tree that was removed was also in our back yard and was leaning towards our house. John told us after he cut it down that it had ants in it 40 feet up and our decision to have it removed was a good one. They started on Monday, Finished on Tuesday and ground up the stumps on Thursday. The only thing that was of a concern was the heat from the lift motor did do some damage to the grass it was stationary over, and there was some kind of oil leak marks as well, but overall that's to be expected I'm sure. The log removal equipment did do some grass trauma removing large logs from property but this too is to be expected.. Overall experience was good. John's staff was definitely professional and courteous and we were satisfied. John's Action Tree Removal business is a + and we will keep them in mind if we need tree work in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"I had some timber people come to my place and leave a big mess on my property. Mr. Flesher came up here, told me what he can do. and followed through impeccably. He fenced my driveway, removed stumps, smoothed out my property from where the timber people tore it up, and leveled out the land. He is very reliable, polite, and dependable. Goes above and beyond. Gives recommendations, instead of just charging for services that haven't been discussed."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Most experts recommend removing a tree that has sustained more than 25% loss in the limbs, trunk, or circumference of the bark. Doing an initial trimming of damaged and dangling branches, but then waiting a few days of monitoring to decide how much more you might need to cut can help you better assess the total damage to the tree. However, consulting a tree maintenance pro to make this determination the best course of action before removing a tree.

The cost of professional tree trimming averages $460, with a typical range between $200 and $760. However, prices can be as low as $75 or as high as $1,800 depending on several factors. The size and type of the tree are major cost drivers; for example, trimming Crepe Myrtle trees costs an average of $80 to $400, while trimming giant pine trees can range from $200 to $1,800. Other factors that influence the price include the time of year, as services are often more costly in the spring. The tree's accessibility and your location also play a role, as a remote or hard-to-reach tree may increase the cost. Some professionals may offer a discount if you have multiple trees to trim.

Unfortunately, if you cut the top off a palm tree, it will die. Instead of budding or branching out, the top begins to slowly rot. That's why having a professional tree trimming at least twice a year is a good idea. If you don’t have experience with trimming your palm tree, you might accidentally cut the top off, leaving a dead and rotting tree in your wake.

Peach trees grow to be about 25 feet, so keep this in mind for pruning as well. If you plan to DIY, you’ll need to be comfortable working on a ladder. Without pruning, peach tree branches can sprawl nearly as wide as the tree grows tall, so make sure to plan pruning sessions at least once per year in the spring for controlled growth. And if you’re working on a ladder, be sure to follow all safety precautions, especially if you’ll be dealing with falling branches.

The best time to prune Japanese flowering cherry trees depends on where you live and the type of flowering cherry tree. Some trees benefit from being pruned toward the end of winter or early spring, after the last freeze. Meanwhile, other trees do well after blooming, in late spring or early summer. Avoid pruning your flowering cherry tree in the early winter, as this encourages open wounds that can lead to infections or infestations.
