"Samuel is extremely competent, timely, responsive, and transparent. Unfortunately, we had a roof installed a few years ago by a company who cut corners, and STMZ came to repair two separate leaks in the “new” roof. He documented every step of the process with photos, and explained what he was doing. (Most contractors, in my experience, do not take the time to explain the process to you!) I highly recommend his services, and if we ever need to replace the roof, STMZ will be the company we will call."

"We had spoken previously, when he had been running a special - the offer was now expired, but he agreed to honor the prices we originally discussed, anyway. He showed up to discuss the roof, walk the job and confirm the details. In every detail he was professional, honest, and fair. He brought us samples of the actual materials to be used, and double checked before he installed that we were happy with the color and choice of materials. He used the highest grades of materials....felt...down to the nails that he chose, and took care to get special ones that were a little shorter for the eaves, so that, (unlike the previous roofers) they wouldn't show through underneath. Great attention to detail. When he said he would arrive each day, he was there a few minutes early.. His crew was respectful of our home, and cleaned up all of the debris and trash. They swept the entire site with a magnet to be sure no nails were left around. We hit a large storm - the carpenters working ahead of Marcio took longer than they said they would - causing Marcio delays. He was patient and understanding about it - though it probably cost him some money. Marcio came to our house, across the lake, during the thunderstorm...on a Sunday, to secure the roof and make sure that we didn't have leaks. His area that his crew had been working on didn't leak - the way the carpenters left things , however, were a mess - and he helped us seal that too, The finished product is beautiful and will, undoubtedly last long after we're long gone! It's a gorgeous roof. I have been a general contractor for years, myself, and my husband has built many houses. We would highly recommend Maurcio and his crew without reservation, and we will use them again, any chance we get.
"I've been looking forward to writing this review since I got the bid back from Zeringue's this past summer. First of all, Z's wasn't the first contractor I contacted. The other six or so either never showed up, declined the work, bid way too high, or just never sent me an estimate of what I wanted done and what needed to be done. Malcolm Zeringue showed up and e-mailed me a detailed PDF and list of questions early the following day. The estimate was clear and surprisingly fair. I met him soon after with a team of subs-contractors, and they began work. What I loved was Z's conscientiousness. Malcolm and his team do not cut corners. They spend the time to get things done right so I won't have problems down the road. They communicate well and often. Throughout, I received photos of finished projects and photos of potential problems. Malcolm new I was on a budget and worked with me on everything. If they ran into uglieness (rotten wood, termite damage, leaks), and one aspect of the job was going to cost more than expected, he tried to balance that out with parts of the overall job that could be less expensive than originally expected. My once dumpy property is now spectacular. Working with Zeringue's was memorable, delightful, exciting, and I'm looking forward to doing more improvements to the property with them. "
"They did a great job, I'm very pleased and I'm looking forward to hiring them again. They were very flexible in doing a great job that was denied by other contractors, I like that they price is fair and the quality was very sturdy."

"I hired Castillo Construction to do emergency repairs to my home after my neighbor's tree fell on it and caused major damage to the house and completely destroyed my garage. Unfortunately, this was the second time that the same tree had fallen on my house causing major damage. The first time, about half of the tree fell and my whole house was gutted. My first contractor was a crook and wasn't even finished with the renovations a year later when the rest of the tree fell. Having had such a horrible experience with my first contractor, I was very picky about who I would hire for this round of renovations and repairs. Alfonso and his team were very responsive with my inquiries for a site visit, estimate, and references. He was also understanding of the trouble I had been through over the last year and was willing to jump through all the hoops I put up to make sure that he was an honest contractor who wasn't trying to make a quick buck without doing the work. As soon as my insurance company issued the first check, his crew got to work. They replaced my roof, laid new wood floors throughout the entire house, repaired the ceiling in two rooms where the tree had come through, painted the interior rooms that had been damaged, rebuilt damaged kitchen cabinet, demolished and rebuilt the two-car garage and patio roof, upgrade electrical box to garage, repainted the exterior of the house, installed new gutters and downspouts, and replaced air conditioning compressor. I'm probably forgetting so many details about what was done. I'll just say that it was a lot of work and they completed it quickly and beautifully. My former contractor had left several things inside the house unfinished such as no window sills on several windows and tile missing in the bathroom or incorrectly installed. I was going to have to pay out of pocket to get these things taken care of since I was fighting with my old contractor over what he owed me. When I asked Alfonso for an estimate to complete this work while they were doing all the other repairs, he told me not to worry about it. He finished all of the unfinished items in the house without asking for a dime. It wasn't a lot of work but he sympathized with my situation he saved me several hundred dollars instead of taking advantage. His crews were always extremely polite and answered any questions I had about what they were doing. They also kept a very clean work site, making sure that all materials and tools were put away and organized every day before they left for the day. Even when Alfonso and I had a disagreement about the air compressor that was installed, he was willing to bend to what I wanted, and what had originally been agreed upon, at a financial loss to himself in order to make things right with the customer. After having been through the ringer over the last year and a half, it was refreshing to have a contractor who was honest and didn't try to take advantage of a woman navigating in a largely male-dominated field."

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.
Costs depend on desk size, labor, included features like drawers or motorized height adjustments, and required wall anchoring.
Proper Murphy bed installation minimizes the risk of wall damage. A secure attachment requires making some holes for anchors or brackets, but these can be easily patched if the bed is removed. To ensure the installation is done correctly and safely, hiring a professional is recommended, especially if you have limited DIY experience.
