I grew up working on farms, ranches, offshore, and electrical substation construction and I’m a full time musician. I won’t claim to be a professional but I’ve spent most of my life fixing things because I’ve never owned anything that was new so I have some knowledge of doing most all things. I’ll be honest with anyone if I don’t feel like I’m capable of doing a job I won’t waste either of our time. I am a full time musician but I recently bought a house that I’ve renovated myself and my wife and I just had a baby so I need the extra money. I mostly play on the weekends at night so I have lots of free time during the week. I have tools to do all sorts of work including carpentry, some mechanic work, yard and tree services, and most any general house work.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

In-ground pools are more durable and have a longer lifespan, but aboveground pools are an excellent option for homeowners on a budget. Aboveground pools are also easier to remove if you no longer want to maintain one.

The cost of an aboveground pool is $800 to $5,000 for materials and $1,000 to $3,000 for labor. Before deciding, weigh the pros and cons of each pool.

Rectangular pools, particularly those made of vinyl or fiberglass, are the easiest to maintain. The long, straight sides, right angles, and smoother surface make regular cleaning a breeze without having to maneuver into curves and nooks. Rectangular pools also tend to be standard sizes, so you may have an easier time when it comes time to replace liners, covers, and other parts.

When there’s too much chlorine in your pool, you might experience symptoms like nausea, dizziness, and vomiting. Excessive chlorine can also give you a skin rash and irritate your eyes, throat, and nose. If your pool’s chlorine level is too high, turn off your chlorinator or chlorine feeder (if you have one). You can also remove the cover and let sunlight hit the water, which naturally reduces chlorine levels.

You should always run your pool pump in freezing weather to keep the water moving. Doing so prevents the pool water from freezing and protects your pool from the damage that often comes along with frozen water. You should also run your pool pump when temperatures are approaching freezing, as a precaution. There’s no need to run a pool heater during the winter, as keeping water moving is generally enough to keep it from freezing.

You can put too much shock in a pool. Following the directions on the shock product you're using is crucial. Using too much shock can make the water cloudy, have adverse effects on pool users, damage the pool equipment or the pool itself, and even encourage particular types of algae to grow.
