"Thru the app. I contacted Wehrle Electric to get estimates on an Electric Service Panel update, and extior AC power supply to our House. Garret was Safe and on time for the appointment. We looked over the areas in need of work. He understood and explained how they would perform the new installation, and handle the inspection and permits. I was pleased with the estimate, best price out of three received. I voiced my concerns about the install, like no extra holes, clean looking, neat and solid. Assured my concerns were heard and addressed, we scheduled a date for the improvements. The installation day work starts on time. They were safe, knowledgeable, and professional. They were quite busy throughout the day and they cleaned up when all finished. Problems solved. Wehrle Electric did a Great Job! Quality workmanship, priced Right! I recommend and will call Garret again for my Electrical needs. Thanks"

"I renovated my kitchen and had to upgrade the electric to accommodate the dishwasher and upgraded appliances. Andrew rewired the kitchen, moved several outlets, and made upgrades in the electrical box. He priced it fairly and completed the work on time and to code. He was also polite, friendly, and cleaned up after himself. His work was excellent."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Natural gas generators are designed to run for extended periods of time, such as power outages during a natural disaster. Since there’s no limit to the supply of natural gas, they don’t need to stop for refills. However, generators do need maintenance, including pauses to check and add oil. Constantly running them will also cause a lot more wear and tear, leading to a shorter lifespan.

Yes. You can connect your home back-up battery to a generator with its designated charger. Be sure that the output of the generator matches the input requirements for the battery for best results.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Whole-house generators need to be installed on level ground several feet away from walls and other objects. Because they tap into the electrical system directly, they usually need to be close to your home electrical panel for a transfer switch installation. It also helps with installation if they are near to a gas line or propane tank installation.

As a safety measure, you should always turn off the main breaker while operating your generator’s backup breaker. In addition, you should also switch off all appliance breakers so you don't have a power surge when the main breaker turns back on. And finally, turning off the main breaker prevents back-feeding, which endangers utility workers with the risk of electrocution. Back-feeding could also destroy the electrical circuits of your neighbors if they use the same power network.
