Small jobs welcome

"If you want a job well done, hire Ryan! He recently built a bookshelf unit for me. His workmanship is exemplary. He pays attention to every detail and creates just what you want. If youâ re looking for an excellent finishing carpenter, Ryan is your guy. On top of all that, he is polite and personable and ever so pleasant to work with. In addition to all of this, he is impeccably neat in his cleanup at the end of the project."

"Guys did a great job on full yard of much needed trimming. Several boxwood, Hollys and weeping cherries. Additionally we had a small dogwood that had died which they took down along with two stumps. Very professional and had me inspect as they completed areas. Highly recommend if you need the job done correctly, in a timely manner and at a great price."

"They called me the same day as the request. Came out the next day to do the estimate. 2 days later they came out and performed the work. It only took one day and they did an excellent job. Less than a week from request to project completion. Fastest I have ever experienced. Workers were friendly and cleaned up the work site."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

The average cost of DIY window framing is about $40 to $60 in materials. If you hire a window treatment professional, you’ll pay for materials plus labor costs—anywhere from $250 to $800 per window. The final cost is highly dependent on the window size, as larger windows are heavier and more difficult to install, as well as the type of window framing material.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.
