"Rawlings Hardwood Flooring did an AMAZING job refinishing my hardwood floors. There were terrible scratches in it that I did not think would come out. They were able to get them all out! Very affordable and responsive. Highly recommend."

"Brandon and his crew were great. They went above and beyond putting in my new laminate in the bedrooms. They moved a lot more of my clutter than they should have had to but I'd recently hurt my shoulder and couldn't do a whole lot to get stuff up and out of their way. Everyone was nice and courteous. Brandon's quick to respond to texts/calls. If I need more flooring work done I'll definitely be calling him again!"

"Brandon installed flooring (carpet and luxury vinyl plank) throughout our entire house. Every room turned out beautifully and weâ re always getting compliments! On top of that, he beat the competitorsâ pricing and got the job completed in a timely manner. He and his crew are honest, reliable, professional, and super down-to-earth. "It was an amazingly easy experience with The Floor Source. I'm going through a master bathroom remodeling project, which has been somewhat of a nightmare. The Floor Source was a piece of cake to work with. Everything went as scheduled, on time, correct materials, courteous employees, efficient, quick solution to an unexpected problem, installer never smoked; an overall wonderful experience and love the LVT! Thank you Floor Source. Hope we can work together again."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.

No subflooring is perfectly level, but you should never ignore any noticeable floor sagging. Most contractors deem a floor that slopes by a 1/2 inch to 1 inch per 20 feet of floor acceptable. Further investigation is required when the slope or sag is more than one and a half inches.

Berber is the most expensive type of carpet, followed by textured carpet. Berber costs $3 to $20 per square foot, and textured carpet ranges from $1 to $12 per square foot. Berber features fibers arranged in short, thick loops, making it extraordinarily durable. The most expensive carpet material is wool, followed by acrylic, Triexta, and cotton. Wool costs $4 to $20 per square foot and is a beautiful, luxurious, and durable material. Acrylic, Triexta, and cotton range from $2 to $8 per square foot.

You might be wondering, “Is laminate flooring toxic?” The product does contain formaldehyde, which is found in the resins used to bind the wood fibers together. But the chance of overexposure and adverse reactions, such as allergy- or asthma-like symptoms, is low unless you are exposed to formaldehyde in other places, i.e., if you work with formaldehyde regularly outside the home. Keep in mind, too, that many household products have the potential to pose a health hazard, such as cleaning products.

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.
