There are a few ways to unclog a toilet without a plunger. Break up the clog with homemade solutions containing soap, vinegar, and baking soda, or simply let hot water spend some time in the drain. Dripping misters are a sign that the nozzles or holes in the tubing have some problems. Try flushing your system thoroughly. If that doesn’t help, examine each nozzle closely and clean them thoroughly with a brush, making sure the exit points are as smooth as possible. If this still doesn’t work, you may need to take off the nozzles entirely and soak them in water with a cleaning solution for a while. This is an important step if dust, mildew, or other gunk builds up in the nozzles.

You can adjust the mixing valve on your shower if it uses a single handle to control both hot and cold water by removing the handle and adjusting the cap on the mixing valve. The cap fits over the valve handle and creates a low and high point for your handle to spin. Remove the cap and turn it to adjust how it mixes hot and cold water, and then replace the cap and reinstall the handle.

The best option is to alter the plumbing. Moving and centering the drain pipe behind the sink usually does the trick and creates the sleek, minimalist look that pedestal sinks offer. If you don’t want to do any plumbing work, there are a few decorating hacks:

  • Placing shelves, plants, or baskets in front of the pipes
