"the job took to long, was not properly cleaned up and I think the price was to high. It took 3 days to finish a 1 day job and caulking was left inside and all over my water hose and wall outside. It took over 2 hours to clean up and there is still dried up caulk inside the utility closet and the outside wall. The person doing the job could hardly walk said he had pain in his leg and said he could not bend down. He did not have any thing to clean up the mess ( rags, vacuum, etc ). There are globs of caulking in the utility closet and he could not sand all of it. This was a poor job overall and with the mess left I really feel there should be some kind of refund for this job. Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

While every home has its own unique needs, ceiling drywall installation typically follows a staggered or stepped pattern to enhance structural integrity and reduce the visibility of seams. Starting from one corner, sheets are placed perpendicular to the ceiling joists, with the ends of adjacent sheets meeting along the center of the joist. The next row begins with a half sheet, ensuring joints don't align vertically. This alternating pattern, combined with proper taping and mudding, creates a seamless appearance and strengthens the ceiling structure, minimizing the risk of cracks over time.

You should stagger drywall sheets to help prevent cracking. The joints between drywall sheets are the weak spots, so if you install drywall with seams aligned, you’ll create weak lines that run across the length of the wall and extend from floor to ceiling. But when you stagger drywall, the solid sections of panels will support the joints. This can prevent seams from cracking or separating due to fluctuating temperature and humidity, vibrations from movement inside the home, and gravity.
