Small jobs welcome

"Working with Window Shopping was fairly easy. We were able to quickly get an estimate. We decided to replace four windows and a patio door. The installation experience was very good. The crew worked quickly and were very professional. We were happy with the results. The windows and patio door look great. It did take about 5 months between getting a quote and having the windows/door installed, but it sounded like this was a common issue in the industry at the time."

"The istaller was very good. The salesmen was pleasant but missed the estimate by 2 windows. We were given 2 start dates but each one was cancelled. The third time they started the job. The job completion was delayed because someone got one of the window measurements wrong."

"They were always prompt, worked efficiently and cleaned up before they left. They stand behind their guarantee: they have been here twice to fix the screens which were broken by children playing nearby. Neither time was there a charge."

"Wonderful communication, knowledgeable and experienced team. Ethan, Grant, and Jose are superb! I needed some crawlspace repair completed prior to the sale of my home, and these guys made the experience feel not so overwhelming. Ethan took quality photos of each item that was addressed, took time to explain the necessary steps in the process, and communicated promptly at each turn. Grant and Jose worked tirelessly cleaning out heavy debris left from the previous owner, completed the multi-day job, and even left useable materials neatly stacked upon request, Notably, even though operating as a single female, I felt secure with this team, didnâ t feel railroaded, and feel confident that this team was a good choice."

"When you are tackling a project with a contractor the best you can hope for is honesty and integrity, which is exactly what Advanced Restoration & Waterproofing provide. After multiple visits to our home, the team provided a recommendation that did not require any work for their business. They were more interested in finding a solution than booking a job - great people, great company, highly recommend."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.

Window screens can help keep some heat out of your home, which is one benefit of using them in summer. It’s also the reason experts suggest removing your screens in winter—so it’s easier for the sun’s warmth to filter into your home. This will keep you cozier and potentially reduce your heating bills.

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage

Adding a window to a brick house costs $3,100 to $10,575. Because you’ll need to make changes to the structure of the home, the cost will include obtaining permits and hiring the best pros for this complex job. Larger windows will cost more to install, and the cost can vary based on the window frame material you choose.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.
